jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2007 750mil, Pours a most fantastic copper color, this beer looks like a million bucks, too bad it disappointed me with overbearing yeasty malty flavor, ending with a mild alcoholic burn... still not my style. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jun 22, 2007 Bottled 4/14/07. Consumed 6/20/07 with Wieland and Taylor. Pours a dark red and brown with a withering off-white head. Nose is fruity (dark) and spicey with hardly any notice of the high alcohol content. Flavor mimics nose with more yeasty flavors coming through. Strong and flavorful malts throughout. A nice surprise from Victory. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2007 Too sweet, candied, and malty for me. Fruit peel and pits give this a bitter acidic edge. Lots of streaming, frothy dark carbonation and head. Chewy full body. Tobacco, peach and cherry notes stand out. Complex and interesting but not my thing. punkrkr27 (606), Berkley, Michigan, USA Jun 16, 2007 Pours a hazy ruby copper color with a 1 finger white head that fades the a thin ring. Aroma is a blend of light and dark fruits, some slight brown sugar sweetness and a bit spicy. A little too much alcohol in the flavor. Theres some nice sweetness that’s almost cloying but not quite. Finishes spicy and peppery. Slightly vinous. The fruit flavors are there but really overpowered by dominant alcohol. Medium-full body, very lively carbonation (a little too much), oily texture, and an obvious alcohol warming. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jun 16, 2007 bottle. off white head that was of average and creamy apperances (good lacing) into cloudy, sparkling brown body. ripe fruits, yeast, brown sugar, and hops are all noticed in the aroma. medium body. fizzy carbonation. alcohol is hidden well in the aroma but is noticed in the warming aspects. Damn fine belgian strong. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Jun 13, 2007 Brownish orange amber with short lived fluffy white head. Aroma of slightly sour fruit and oak. Tastes of grape, yeast, and a strange vitamin taste in the finish. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jun 12, 2007 Cloudy orange/amber color with a huge head. Spare lacing. Aroma of caramel and toffee, with a good amount of Belgian yeast. Tastes quite spicy and yeasty, with a lot of warmth and a bit of fruit (pears and cherries). Nice, spicy finish, if a little bit warm. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jun 10, 2007 Brew pours a deep amber color w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Hangtime is lengthy and residual lacing is like a thick down comforter, complete w/ Chmpagne streamers. Aroma is very Belgian w/ sweet fruitcake. Full nectar w/ creamy yet expansive residual effers. Pour all the contents of the bottle for 100% satisfaction. This brew is very generous. Fat chewy malts, a defined peach pit bittering. Sweet w/ spices weaved through like a mexican blanket. Extreme flavor intensity. Alcohol is mildly noticable. Balck cherry, Christmas spices, ripe nectarines, raw cinnamon, cake bread. Pretty well balanced for it’s nature. The finish is long and sweet w/ a mild bittering component. Overall: This brew is in your face. Huge, generous flavor compounds and a beautiful head that just sits there like heavily whipped cream. Highly recommended.
