Jul 5, 2007 I liked the alc notes in this brew. It’s strong and pungent. Taste was fruity; pear comes to mind. And therein lies the problem for me. I wasn’t too keen on the flavor and aroma. Nothing inherently wrong with this beer, but It just wasn’t my type.

Jul 3, 2007 The dark ruby color is inviting. Looks like delicious liquid caramel. The aroma is decent, a fruity smell with caramel. The beer looks great. The beer has hints of dark fruits and caramel. The flavors did not shock me, I expected that, but what was annoying wasw that the ABV got in the way. It burned the back of my throat. Stille Nacht has the same ABV and yet the alcohol is hidden a little better I believe. This belgian ale is okay, it just lacks originality. I was expecting this to be different in some way, but maybe I should not have put this beer on a pedastal. The beer is fine, I like the ABV, but the flavor is weak, and the ABV is strong. Decent brew. Very smooth, and okay taste.

Jun 30, 2007 dark fruit aroma. color is deep ruby with a small off-white head. flavor is very complex offering notes of plum, apple, licorice, yeast, chocolate, cherry, brown sugar, and caramel. a nice warming finish. very well done.

Jun 30, 2007 Pours a copperish hue with light, diaspating heas. Fruity begian nose, and a thick cloying flavor. I bet some age will help this as the alcohol is not well hidden

Jun 26, 2007 Pours a dark amber with a nice off-white head. Big fruity/yeasty Belgian nose. Flavor is sweet: a very complex, fruity mixture ... maybe some raisins, a bit of peach and cherry, although mild. Dark fruitiness abounds. Big alcohol presence. Pleasantly warm and full. Very robust and flavorful. Excellent.

Jun 23, 2007 750mil, Pours a most fantastic copper color, this beer looks like a million bucks, too bad it disappointed me with overbearing yeasty malty flavor, ending with a mild alcoholic burn... still not my style.

Jun 22, 2007 Bottled 4/14/07. Consumed 6/20/07 with Wieland and Taylor. Pours a dark red and brown with a withering off-white head. Nose is fruity (dark) and spicey with hardly any notice of the high alcohol content. Flavor mimics nose with more yeasty flavors coming through. Strong and flavorful malts throughout. A nice surprise from Victory.

Jun 17, 2007 Too sweet, candied, and malty for me. Fruit peel and pits give this a bitter acidic edge. Lots of streaming, frothy dark carbonation and head. Chewy full body. Tobacco, peach and cherry notes stand out. Complex and interesting but not my thing.
