3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jthg (76) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2008
The first thing you sense when smelling this beer is a sweet fruity aroma from the yeast. This sweetness turn into the empty sweetness that is so typical of candy sugar in beer as you start to drink which is the dominate flavor of this beer (but, not in a bad way). The fruity-ness in the aroma is matched by a rasin quality in the taste.
Overall a good beer. One worth tasting with friends a couple more times!

Bottle @ Kolding Bryglaug Americans tasting.
[thank you, SecretSanta!]
Pours light hazy coppery-orange with a light frothy off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel and lots of raisins. Well vinious. Pleasant high carbonation and fine mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely sweet, yeast, caramel, raisins and plums. But there is just too much alcohol in here.

Sampled at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore. Pours a cloudy, rosy yellow with a cloudy, tight white head. Delicious aroma of sweet tarts and sour cherries. Flavor is soft with fruits, hay, flower petals and perfume. Soft and chalky on the palate. Very drinkable and was a hit with others at the tasting.

I had this beer at Eulogy in Philly in Bottle. What a really unusual beer, despite the makers claim for simplicity. Sort of like a belgian, with sweet ether and alcohol notes, but also like a barley wine like their old horizontal. Great golden color and finishes with a good amount of hop to clean the palate like most Victory beers.

Silky smooth leggings! This beer is a mud bath of warm and luxurious flavors. The strength of the booze hides in the shaodows and then jumps out. Well worth the wait.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 zappafan99 (463) - ASCENSION ISLAND - MAY 10, 2008
Citrus aroma on an amber to red body. Banana esters from lotsa sugar. Nice, mild initial flavor, with a good kick after. Lacks the date where the label says bottled on: shame, shame. Raisin says "hi". Better as it warms. A little sweet and sticky, but it is 12%abv and see through, how else can beer do that?
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kalli (502) - Falun, SWEDEN - MAY 10, 2008
Pear flavoured boiled sweets (well, it’s a local thing...) and malty aroma with a hint of... vomit? Malty fruit body and yeast flavour.

750 ml bottle from mrbendo, shared with haukur and Kalli and haukur’s tasting on 1 May 2008. Pour is orange-amber mostly clear with a 1 inch slightly off-white head. Visible carbonation. Aroma of ripe pears, Belgian yeastiness and a hint of old laundry. Karl mentioned it smelled like someone got sick, I didn’t get that, but an interesting observation. Taste is sweet fruit - more of the pear and big Belgian yeastiness. Finish has some sugar sweetness.
