alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 10, 2007 Aroma hops and belgian yeast; alcohol; maybe some citrus. Banana ans spice. Initially impressed. Color was a nice reddish amber-light copper. Pretty fizzy, medium white head. Good tasting; sipped it all night. Rvrndmaynard (47), Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, USA Jan 8, 2007 Easily the best beer i’ve had in quite a while. Well worth my 2 hour drive to get a case from the brewery. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Jan 8, 2007 I enjoyed this one. I sipped on it for over 3 hours, just enjoying the flavors, occasionally thinking that it could only have been better if it had less cotton candy, which lead me to think that if this was a little less geared towards being “12” it could be better. Don’t get me wrong I like it, I’m gonna buy more. It just seems that in the pursuit of higher alcohol it got a bit too saccharin in the first bit and then too much alcohol bite in the last bit. I love the pineapple, mango, and to a certain point the cotton candy flavor. The dark fruits mix with the lemon nicely. I see this as a dark tripel, or an imperial dubbel if you will. Fuck it is a pretty damn good beer. A bit too much rocket fuel in the nose hides the tapioca and banana that is there if you look lonmg enough. I do love the palate, this finishes dry but it works out here with the balance of sweet and alcohol to make it feel like satin on my tongue as it dries up. I’d love to try a version without the candy sugar, or whatever was used to pump up the abv, but I also want this version around for awhile. A yeasty coriander like flavor is very good in this, a nice vanilla taste too. A definite repeat purchase. The one word that comes to mind while drinking this is indulgent.

vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Jan 6, 2007 Wow, this was MUCH better than I expected. Pours lightly murky amber/ orange with a fizzy tan head. The aroma has rich Belgium earthiness, thick caramel malt, anise and nectar fruits - very full and rich. Medium body with a good amount of prickly carbonation. The taste begins very full, rich and lush with nectar fruits, pear, earthy Belgium yeast, candi sugar, alcohol and light anise. The finish has even more of an alcohol bite with some sharpness. The body gets thicker as it warms. Through the warming it also gets fruitier with more alcohol warmth. Very well done. It would have been nice if the alcohol was a bit more hidden, but at 12% that is forgivable and it is very drinkable and enjoyable. Big thumbs up to Victory for this one. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 29, 2006 750 mL bottle. Pours hazy amber with an average fizzy light brown head that diminishes to a patchy film in relative short order, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toasted straw, meal, bread), light hops (flowers), moderate yeast (dough, earth) with notes of alcohol and pear. Long duration, moderate sweetness and acidity, heavy bitteness; creamy warm nutty malt, yeast flavor with candied fruit notes. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and an astringent finish. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Dec 27, 2006 Red and hazy, with a small head. Aroma is molasses and a bit of hops (not much of the alcohol there). Oily mouth feel and just too much alcohol in the taste. The alcohol simply pervades all of this beer. None of the 6 beer connoisseurs at the tasting like this and, of the 20 beers, it was the only bottle we didn’t finish. ratman197 (3136), Arvada, Colorado, USA Dec 24, 2006 750 ml bottle poured a clear amber with a creamy lasting amber head. Aromas of banana, carmel, molasses, pepper and spice. Palate was medium bodied. Flavors of carmel, spice, pepper, brown sugar, apple and a hint of banana with a warm lingering sweet finish. blankboy (3156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 23, 2006 Bottle shared with the gang at Decemberfest 2006 -- courtesy of Jon. Pours a cloudy copper-orange with a large lasting off-white head. Very nice aroma of sweet malt, spices, yeast and hops. Flavour is sweet, malty and spicy. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Medium bodied. Very good.
