5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 Tdevil (13) - Feetood, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 31, 2008
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2009 Easily the best of the Victory series. Being desperate to try this one, it griped me a bit to spend $95 for a 12-pack of this, but I had no idea of the treat I was about to be in for. The cork was very difficult to remove, but once I got it out I immediatley smelled the yeast and mild spices. It poured very dark with a thick brownish head. Despite being an ale it was astonishingly easy to drink. It didn’t have the usual dryness of an ale, instead it had the smooth drinkability of a lager. Incredibly mild flavor with an immense alcoholic punch. I could not finish the bottle for it had such an immense alcohol content. Will be sharing with someone next time I open a bottle. I certainly recommend this one for the experience and I hope I will be able to buy this again.

750 bottle corked and caged poured into a Trappist glass has a light carbonation and a thin head that quickly dissipated. color is a dark ruby orange with a decent amount of fine sediment floating about. smell has dark fruit, cherry, some sweet and sour, and yeast. quite a nice nose of fruit spice and funk with the alcohol being totally hidden. mouth feel is medium and has a frothy carbonation making it more full. flavors of spiced yeast, less fruit then in the nose, malt, and some funk. definitely a no fooling around strong ale but does become a little boozy once it warmed too much.

Pours a pretty dark amber/copper color with a thick and frothy off-white head. Aroma of fruit and spices as well as yeast and some caramel malts. Delicious sweet raison/fruity taste at first and a nice caramel body with only a little alcohol on the finish. Hides the 12% extremely well. Finish is ultra smooth.
