Smells very sweet. Smells of malt with almost a chocolate banana type smell. Poured dark red/ brown in color with a large head. You can definitely taste the alcohol in this beer. I think age will help this, as I am drinking a new bottle of this. Taste sweet and malty

Very malty. Some friends - who I thought I’d impress by bringing this over - wouldn’t drink it. So I drank it all. Excellent beer from an excellent brewery.

Aromas are meadlike. Honey and sweetness dominate, but you can smell the alcohol. A little bit of a port-like aspect to it too. Head is insanely large. Body is a cloudy dark amber. Alcohol dominates flavor, burying malt and so on. I’m picking up cloves and yeast, but they definitely take a back seat here. I’d be more than happy to trade a couple of ticks of the ABV% for a little more balance.

Pours an orangie amber with a smallish head. Aroma is mostly fruity, banana and citrus. Flavor is much lighter than I would expect from such a high abv. Some nice bread like yeast mixed with a sweetness. Hardly any alcohol flavor, but a nice burn as it goes down. An exceptional beer.

Tasted with OhioGuzzler... Bottled 8/22/2004. This beer is pure Belgian ectasy. It is a beautiful honey color with a sweet malty aroma with a bit of orange or apricot. The flavor is is sweet and slightly orange, peachy, and maybe a bit of cherry. The palate is amazing. It tastes sweet like syrup on the sides of the tongue, but it so soft, smooth, and not syrupy at at. The alcohol is amazing hidden. I’ve been told that this beer needs a bit of age to be really good, but at 2 years it is excellent. If you have some, please send me a message! This is a truly underrated brew!

Opened a 2004 bottle with Shigadeyo. This is one fantastic beer. Sweet, with hints of cherry, apple and yeast as it slides down down your throat like a belgian dominatrix. You’ll be begging for mercy and for more of this beer after the first sip. The alcohol is well hidden. MMMM, is all I have left to say. If you have a newer bottle, you may want to sit on it for a year or two because I could see where the alcohol could burn a bit early on....

Pours deep amber into a tulip. Large, medium-bubbled tan head. Grass and dough notes. Creamy caramel with a lasting slight alcohol burn in the finish. 12 is nicely hidden.

Appearance: Dark amber with a splash of ruby thought the center and golden glow on the edges. It had a long last huge frothy head that faded to a frothy cap that lasted to duration of the beer. Nice heavy lacing. Smell: The alcohol does clearly show through this beer. It like that aspect but it may be too big a beer for some peoples preference. In the aroma there is also very nice toasted butterscotch, brown sugar and caramel. Finally there is a fresh homemade bread smell that lingers in the nose. mmm. Taste & Mouthfeel: Very smooth feel as it enters the mouth. It leads with a sweet malt character that is immediately backed up with some bold alcohol that is in no way offensive or cloying, it is just making itself known. There is a brilliant balance of exotic fruits and spices layered in the super smooth silky mouthfeel. Excellent. Drinkability: This beer is extremely easy to enjoy but it is a sipping beer. It is very big. It also very classy and would easily suit as accompaniment to a fine dinner and guests. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!
