Bartzilla (441), San Diego, California, USA May 1, 2006 Ack! This stuff was too strong. I didn’t even do my homework before picking this up. I just saw this new Belgian style at the store and saw it for $7.99 so I went for it. I knew from the first sip that I was going to struggle through this one. Super strong and sickly sweet. This might taste good poured over ice cream. Got me screwed up in a hurry. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA Apr 29, 2006 The alcohol content is masked well from my perspective. All things considered, another okay American attempt at a Belgian. So far only Ommegang gets there. Nothing jumps out at ya here other than you may be enticed take a pour to sample yourself. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 24, 2006 Updated: Apr 27, 2006Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours dark amber with a tan head. Aroma of spice, hops, citrus and fruit. Flavor is smooth, citrus, sweet, with a slight bitterness. hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA Apr 18, 2006 decent not to great.i was already blazed out but. it tasted a little sweet a little bitter. i did it like they said started it cold and finish it warm and i think i liked it cold better bhensonb (4181), Woodland, California, USA Apr 15, 2006 Hints of stone fruit - peach/apricot? Fades to pear? Fairly sweet, lightly spiced. Warmed some a bit in the microwave - finally got an apple aroma. The room temperature approach: it has brandy characteristics. Still think there’s a passing bit of apricot in there. The hops are fairly subdued by the malt and sugar. Every sip seems to change the impression. Bemusing. Bewitched, Bothered and BeMildred. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Apr 13, 2006 A small off-white head briefly tops a deep amber body. Notes of pear brandy, hops, caramel, baked apples, and malt in the aroma. A bit watery and light bodied. The flavor was pleasant fruit and spice and sweet candy. Not a bad brew but not top-notch. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Apr 10, 2006 750 ml corked/caged bottle, March 11 2003 bottling date, purchased sometime in 2004. Little pop, and a pour of hazy bright amber, with voluminous lasting head, leaving quite thick fine-patterned lace as it finally dies....sweet Belgian candy sugar, peach and baked apples, and moderate alcohol presence in an appealing nose....on the tongue, moderate to heavy sweetness, with a maple/honey character that’s very nice, plenty of alcohol but not oppressively boozy, light yeastiness, golden raisins and a touch of funkiness....light carbonation, somewhat sticky mouthfeel, a touch syrupy, smooth and quite easy to drink belying the strength....not quite fabulous perhaps but quite delicious and it feels like just the right age. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Apr 4, 2006 thanks goes to weeare138 for this.bottle mar. 29th 05.poured a amber copper with a big light kahki colred head. aroma with the corked popped got a big whiff of brown sugar, when the nose went to the glass got honey, grains , hops some tartness leaning to sour, alcoho, fuzzy fruit. flavor the alcohol kind of took over but not over powering than along came the sweetness than hops and a hint of apple. good beer
