Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Mar 6, 2005 Deep hazy orange amber with a light fluffy Belgian laced head. Spicey yeast aroma with light coriander and strong vodka. Light orange peels also. Sweet candy sugar with whiff of warm alcohol. Some notes of pears and pineapple. Light hops in finsih. Rich and smooth bodied, with a rather quick finish. mball581 (20), Maineville, Ohio, USA Mar 3, 2005 Amber orange hue with rocky off white head and generous lacing. Amora of orange peel, candied bananas, cloves, citrus and toffee. Initially sweet with honey and candied caramel flavors. Pleasant hop bitterness in the back of the palate with a nice long finish. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Mar 3, 2005 (on 750 ml. bottle, thx for sharing madsberg)Very golden color; tinkles. At first snif I had a big impression of cognag, but the ,malts came back a made it a beer again. Warm mouth, full like fudge. Some vauge orange/malt tones. Finishes with some alcohol warmth, but keeps a sweet impression. It´s a fat beer in my mouth, coulden´t drink loads of it. GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Mar 2, 2005 Just getting the bottle uncorked was a challenge but one that was well worth it. Clear light orange despite the large amount of sedimant in the bottle. Medium off white and very lively head with less lacing than most true Belgians. Sweet and yeasty aroma with plenty of malt and a touch of alcohol. Complex flavors with fruity sweetness predominating (honeydew, peaches & currants) over a lightly roasted malty backbone with a touch more alcohol. Nice silky mouthfeel and a warm syrupy finish. This ale gets even more inviting as it warms. I had passed on this for a while for no good reason - now I have to hope I didn’t buy the last bottle. Brewso (238), Mt Kisco, New York, USA Mar 2, 2005 This was outstanding. The label describes it as liquid luxury and I would have to agree. Smooth not overly carbonated belgian yeast and caramel malt flavor. Varied fresh, bright fruits with hints of marmalade and brown sugar. The 12% may be in the name but is totally hidden in the beer. Simply fantastic. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Mar 2, 2005 From a 750ml bottle. Poured into a Trappist glass. Goregeous red and orange coloring. A medium sized white head. The aroma is oranges and fresh bread. Hints of sweat socks, but that is faint. There is also note of nutmeg spice. The taste is a very sweet orange with some almonds. Finishes with the spice of nutmeg and some bananas. Thick and sticky in it’s mouthfeel. The alcohol is noticed, but not distracting. Finishes a little sweet for me. A very solid version of a style that I love. madsberg (4875), Søborg, Denmark Feb 24, 2005 Bottled: Orange coloured. Clear. Has a small somewhat brownihs head. Citric and alcoholdense aroma. Sweet and light spiced. Flavour of almond, alcohol, some spiced and sweetness. Is very smooth and balanced. I really like the smooth almond flavour. Ends on a sweet and fruity note. Alcohol is pretty well hidden, allthough is apparent in both aroma and flavour. Good one. I salute SpringsLicker for this beer. Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA Feb 23, 2005 Good nose of yeast, dark candied fruits, good sweetness and a nice touch of alcohol. Hazy orange body, with small white head. Sticky sweetness in the flavor, candisugar, some alchol finishes this brew off.
