3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fred82 (1758) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 14, 2010
750ml bottle from Glen’s Bevereage.
Appearance : Clear amber with a small head.
Aroma : Quite spicy with some fruits. Some alcohol.
Taste : Spicy and yeasty with some red fruits. Some alcohol. Rather dry bit with a light sweetness. Notes of caramel and brown sugar. A bit warm.
Overall : Rahter uneventful. Nose is just ok. Taste not bad but nothing amazing. Alcohol was rather well hidden considering it’s 12%.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rando7 (447) - Iowa, USA - DEC 8, 2010
Bottle pours medium brown with thick tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma Belgian yeast, malts, spice. Taste nicely balanced with spices, malts, a little dark fruit sneaking in, sugar, a bit peppery. Palate medium-thin but pretty carbonated which accentuates the tartness of this beer. Finish surprisingly long with mildly bitter hops but does not detract at all. Alcohol evident but not intrusive.
Overall a nice spiced Belgian ale. Would drink again.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Slipstream (1465) - USA - NOV 15, 2010
A light and sugary barleywine that was on tap at RnH. Honey, sugar, clove, cereal. A bit malty and the hops are noticeable as well. Pretty thin despite the high ABV. Not bad, but overrated i.m.o.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheJester (1230) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 12, 2010
750 mL bottle. Nice colour; hazy peach-brown with a small beige head. The aroma is not as strong as I expected. Rather, it is a relatively subdued blend or brown sugar, bruised fruit, alcohol, cherries and bread. In the flavour, the alcohol is well masked, but the fruit is not. There is over-ripe orchard fruit, dried fruit, sweet caramel, yeast and spice. Full, smooth body. A little sweet. but a great beer otherwise.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum.
Clear brown with a thin off-white head. Strong fruity aroma with some cherry, banana, spice, clove. You definitely get some warmth from the alcohol but it’s masked pretty well. Smooth with a long finish.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EricE (1232) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - NOV 5, 2010
Clear orange brown pour with a tan head. Mostly alcohol on the nose. Sweet fruity flavor. Spicy with pepper and clove. Almost like a spiced cider. Lots of alcohol.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 russwbeck (117) - Tyrone, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 1, 2010
Pours a reddish brown without much head, very bubbly, but nothing special here for me. Very fruity smell, with Belgian yeasts and spices. Much lighter taste than I expected from a 12% quad. Not that its a bad thing. Alcohol is masked, but shows itself here and there. The rich dark fruits come out first, but subside to an alcoholy finish. Light feel for a quad, but medium body overall. Very carbonated. Warming feeling as you drink. This is the most drinkable 12% beer I’ve ever had. Very refreshing, but I can’t say I find it typical of the quad style. At least to my experience so far.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 yinzerbeernut (180) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 24, 2010
On pour this is a clear amber color with and off white head that was short lived. The head was thinner and left little lacing. The belgium yeast yields to the high 12% abv on nose. There was a nice body consisting of malt, yeast, bread, and alcohol on the palate. The finish was a melted butter consistency.
