Feb 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small quickly fading white head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, light caramel, light fruit, and alcohol. Taste is the same as aroma. Full mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and warm but never hot alcohol. Very good.

Jun 1, 2006 Sampled at Noogfest-2. Nice copper color with a very light haze. Sweet Belgian candy aroma with clove, marshmallow, and other spice. The flavor is similar with sweet Belgian spice (cinnamon and allspice), candy and bready yeast. Sticky, oily medium body. Fair.

Jan 5, 2006 "Oh my what a head on this one. Filled the glass to the brim with only about a 1/4 of the glass of beer or so. Tasted of candi suger and hops. Had a stong bitter aftertaste. mabye some aging would do this one some good."

Jun 6, 2007 Rated 4/14/07: Bottled in August of 2006, this is a 12% abv beauty that I was recently able to get. Maximum strength allowed by law in oHIo this beer hid that fact really well. Aroma is a top notch replica of an authentic Belgian Strong, yeasty with a floral musty scent, thick sweet candy malt, and even some mild fruit. Sparkling amber-orange pour with a thick light tan head and nice lacing. Looks like golden honey very appealing. Eight months in the bottle and this is still a bit "hot", but I do like my high gravity brews so the mouthfeel was well received. Luscious and full of thick malt, the alcohol is noticed but it doesn’t burn. Very filling this bottle took time to enjoy. Flavor is initially earthy with some nice fruit esters. A sturdy malt content soon follows leading to the sugary taste, not overly sweet which was surprising. Mild bitterness, notes of raisins and honey are tasted. Outstanding in most regards, I’m surprised how well this beer came across considering it’s massive strength, never would have guessed it.

Dec 28, 2005 Pours a hazy golden color with a huge amount of froathy white head. Aroma is orangey, spicey, floral, and a bit yeasty. Flavor is sour and alcohol, fruity, yet sweet finish. Overall, i though this was good, but it lacked something that the grand cru had. Very similar to the grand cru, just not as complete. definitely lose something with the extra abv.

Jun 15, 2003 Clear orange body with rising carbonation, small head, sweet nose with hints of yeast, fruit and light alcohol. Very sweet, fruity finish, no hops to mention, strong alcohol presence in the flavor.
