ORange-amber body, medium sized off-white head, soapy lacing. Dark fruits, caramel, biscuit, peppery yeast, light brown sugar. Medium to full bodied, slick carbonation, a bit sweet, boozy, but not too much so at this ABV.

750 ml. bottle, six years old at the liquor store, covered in dust. Pours light amber/copper with a nice thick white head that leaves lacing. Aroma is very fruity, cherry and plum standing out, with hard candy, bread, and alcohol rounding out the nose. Taste is on the sweet side, but not overwhelming, not much evidence of hops. This is quite smooth for 12% abv,, very warming, a good winter or early spring brew. For $8 it was a good deal, packs a substantial buzz.

750 ml bottle. BB Sep/2018 says the importer. From Sweden. Courtesy of mjs. Thanks!
Clear ruby red colour with a small white head. The aroma is pure Barley Wine. Super malty and super sweet. The flavour is also extremely sweet and malty. Some yeast there too. Not my favourite I’m afraid.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, bottled May 2013, from Systembolaget, 20140315) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, sweetness and yeast. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts, molasses, wort and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. The beer left an unfinished and harsh feeling.

@ Ölprovning på Havregatan 7 mars 2014. Flaska från Systembolaget (101:-). Fruktig och maltig, hög sötma, karamell, syrlig doft men ingen syrlighet i smaken, alkoholvärmande, medelfyllig.

.75 bottle. Amber orange, clear. Really interesting nose. Reminds me of Orval to some extent- old world hops, belgian peppery yeasty. But some tripel-ness also in the fresh coriander seedy esters. Super soft full body, like a blanket on your tongue. Pale malts, some hay, but all really soft. And enough bitters for balance. Really nice drink, and interesting. Well made, flavourful yummy. But doesn’t quite fit any specific style too well. Like an Orval on stereoids, having gained 500lbs and put into a straitjacket. Soft and restrained, but bold. Liquid luxury (as printed on the bottle).

ineedbeer (550) - Oakland, California, USA - FEB 25, 2014
750mL bottle bottled on 12/20/2010. Aroma is fairly fruity with quite a bit of raisins, figs and stone fruit. Medium light caramel and lightly toasted bread. Moderate honey notes. Hints of toffee. Pours a somewhat cloudy, amber-copper with a slightly orange hue. Small, thin, light tan head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with quite a bit of fruit character - raisin, fig and stone fruit. Stronger malt character than in the aroma. Malt notes of caramel, lightly toasted bread and toffee. Lesser honey notes than in the aroma. Medium low bitterness and alcohol spice. Lingering fruit notes, toasted bread and honey. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty mediocre beer. It has a ton of sweetness and the fruit character is too strong and malt presence too light. Hop character has disappeared, but I question whether it would help the beer.

Beachmaster (57) - North Carolina, USA - FEB 23, 2014
Poured into a tulip. Pours a clear medium copper color, with a small khaki head which fades quickly, leaving little lacing. Nose is caramel, toffee, and dark fruit. Taste is moderately sweet dark fruit and caramel. Very well balanced, with a clean finish. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side for the style. Just delicious.
