leitrim65 (396), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 14, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber color. Aroma consists of oranges, dark fruit, spice and some alcohol. Silky creaminess. Citrus and dark fruit flavors are most apparent and are complimented by some spice and alcohol in the finish.
j_b (738), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 31, 2008 Orange bourbonesque look to this, with a thin head. Many aromas. Bananas, dried dark fruit, brown sugar, a somewhat sour yeasty aroma. Palate is many things all at once. Tingly with small bubbles, sweet, sour, dry, how can it be sweet and dry? Layers of taste with the sugar winning sometimes and the delicate hops other times. Very well made. Very much like the doppelbock style though I doubt any of those are at 12%abv. colemgm8 (370), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Aug 30, 2008 ’07 750 ml bottle. quite delicious. consumed during the FL Gators season opener against HI... GO GATORS! pours a brilliant red with a 1/4" light head. Aromas of candi sugar, yeast, banana and sweet fruits. lively over the palate with the sugar taking over the front... nice and soft with smooth carbonation on the sides. The alcohol comes through a bit on the finish - but not too strong... just a nice warming finish. I would definitely buy this one again... very enjoyable. taalhiker (15), , Ohio, USA Aug 24, 2008 750ml bottle. Bottled on 7/27/07. Cloudy amber in color. Alcohol comes through a little too much. Not as good as real Belgian strong ales but definitely a decent attempt. Probably needs a little more time in the bottle. Taste is assertive brandy, dried dark fruit, licorice and some smoke. Well balanced, but almost cloyingly sweet. Alcohol warmth is noted after the swallow. Real, real good!
