COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

Date tasted: July 5, 2013... Glassware: Rare Vos shaker... Occasion: camp week #1 in the books, and reviewing an old friend....Appearance: pale straw haze; thin off-white head that stills quickly; appears easy-drinking but not overly attractive ... Aroma: tart citric bouquet, with orange and lemon scents softly against some pepper--more intriguing combination than the average summer wit... Palate: a soft yet firm mouthfeel, smooth at the teeth and lacking all (any?) presence at the throat--mega-refreshing, as recalled... Taste: a bit of pepper sneaks in, but far and away a doughy, orange twist that easily sifts down the throat; not complex, but enough profile to compel... Overall: An old friend indeed--this was the first beer I found that fit the easy-drinking summer plan once out of college; surprised I had not reviewed it yet, I had to go back to it; for better (or worse), a case of this could vanish in a mere day or two; better than the sum of its parts....

12 oz bottle. Pours light golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of wheat malt, yeast, banana, citrus and spices. Body is medium and smooth. Wheat malt, spices, candy sugar, banana fill the mouth. Finish is medium, semi-dry. Taste more like Hefe than Wit.

12 oz bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have wheat malts, lemon citrus, mild spices, and yeast. Pretty basic with nothing that really stands out.

A cloudy yellow color. Balanced and crisp summer session brew. Comes through with spices, coriander, peppercorns, yeast, lemon zest, wheat, grass. Actually a tad bitter on the back end. Flavor tapers off and finishes quite dry. Medium carbonation. One of the good wits.

Hazy straw-orange colored body, medium sized white head and soapy lacing. Orange zest, some wheat notes, light yeast spice. Medium to light bodied, moderate carbonation, moderately sweet, rounded finish. Solid beer. Nice to see this coming back after its hiatus.

Transfer from BA review on 3-22-12 - Served in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a hazy orange-yellow color with a big white head. The head faded very fast giving very light lacing. Smell – The aroma is heavy and yeasty with a nice wheaty backbone. A bit of lemon and some spice of clove and pepper is mixed throughout. Very classic witbier. Taste – Wheaty up front with a nice yeastiness mixed in. Some spices are present up front but actually rather light. More toward the end the lemon in the nose becomes more pronounced in flavor and leaves a slightly bitter flavor in the mouth. Mouthfeel – It is a medium bodied brew with a slightly higher than normal carbonation level. This coupled to its lighter body and lower abv make it very drinkable. Overall - As with most witbier in my opinion, it is good for a good session brew while sitting and drinking outside on a nice warm sunny day.

hotstuff (4058) - Indiana, USA - NOV 7, 2013
Rated on 6-21-2009 (Bottle) This beer forms a small very fizzy white head that mostly diminished, cloudy pale yellow body, floaties, spotty amounts of lacing, fizzy, and fast rising carbonation. The Aroma is yeasty, citrus hops, sweet, fruity, and spicy. The Taste is sweet, spicy, fruity, and lightly yeasty. The Palate is tingly and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer is easy to drink and a beer I consider to be a session beer. It is refreshing on a hot Indiana summer day and is worth trying.
