COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden Monkey aged in Chardonnay barrels. “Our Golden Monkey is beloved by many, so we anticipate some heartfelt responses to our intriguing transformation of this beer,” expressed Victory brewmaster Bill Covaleski. “The wine barrel aging has had a substantial and delicious impact on the Golden Monkey.” Approximately 100 oak barrels that once held chardonnay varietal white wine from Wente Vineyards of Livermore, CA were filled with Golden Monkey and aged at ambient temperatures in the Downingtown brewery for 3 months. This process is an extension of an experiment dating back 6 years prior, when a single oak barrel once holding white wine from local vintner, Chaddsford Winery, was used in a similar manner to produce a test batch which never left the brewery. Deemed delicious by Victory brewmasters and brewing staff, the White Monkey project was made possible through a collaborative partnership with Wente Vineyards.

Shared with Claudia on our first night in RVA. Clear golden pour with quick fading white head. Typical triple sweetness and character with vanilla and oak. The vinous white grapey character is quite enjoyable. Pretty good treatment of an already good beer.

Almost clear gold beer, decent white head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Smooth malts, light cream and a trace of honey. Mild vanilla oak and mild grape. Good white wine tang. Well integrated mild orange. Pinch of spice. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Mild winey linger. Lovely stuff, really nicely joined up and the last mouthful was as good as the first, lovely.

"Via ggrumet. Pretty obvious barrel influence for only being 3 months in the wood, according to the label. Grapes and oak come through, but as well as the fruitiness and yeastiness from the base beer. Still pretty gassy, yet smooth and covers up the abv well. Not sure if it’s worth a hike in price from the non-barreled version, but it was definitely nice to try."

750 ml. Pours a lightly hazy burnt orange-amber with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is butterscotch and white wine. Tastes of butterscotch toffee, white grapes, wine, light citrus and a nice touch of oak. Medium body has medium-high carbonation and a nice balance. A little too much of the wine shows up but otherwise very tasty.

Enjoyed side by side with golden monkey... Slightly darker burnt orange in color... Aroma is all buttery Chardonnay... So much butter, light oak... Flavor is so smooth and buttery up front, spices and golden malts in the middle, really gentle finish... Really nice beer, better than the original ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours lightly hazy golden color, with a thin 1-finger off-white head. Strong aroma of wood and white wine, perhaps a note of stone fruit as well. Body is medium and lightly oily, with a wine-like dryness in the finish. Flavor of white wine and maybe some crisp apple. Notes of vanilla and wood underneath, and a light earthiness at the back.

Bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Nice fruity, spicy white wine aromas with light fruits, candi sugar, bready malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nice belgian spice, candi sugar sweet flavors with fruity, dry spicy white wine, wet wood tannins____drying spicy twang to finish___a bit too sweet for me, but still very tasty.
