3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of white wine, bright citrus, spice, bready malts, cider apples, a mild candi fruit-like sweetness. The taste is wood, coconut, vanilla, wine, apples, spice, bready caramel malts. Medium bodied. Quite nice.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750 ml bottle. Aroma is mostly white wine with oak barrel. Appearance is hazy gold with a orange hue. Some head retention in the snifter.
Flavors shows musky grapes, chardonnay wine, wet oak leading into a very dry finish. Not sure how the wine barrel helps the base beer. In fact this is more like drinking a cheap chardonnay rather than a Belgian Triple. If you like white wine this is drinkable, otherwise I would skip it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Man, one smell/taste of this and I am reminded of the several oaked beers that I’ve made that just went fucking nuts. This beer is an oak bomb. Hazy straw gold pour with two fingers of frothy white head. Nose is super oaky with a defined cedar wood note. Very buttery with little to no vinous quality. Some spicy notes and a little yeasty. Very interesting but a little too much oak for my taste. Very buttery with spicy wood and a lightly herbal and vinous quality. Very woody/cedary in the flavor too. Almost cooked vegetable character. Medium boded.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly hazy copper color with a white head. Strong Chardonnay aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel. Flavors of wine on the palate mesh really well with the base tripel flavors. I normally don’t like wine/beer combinations but this was excellent.

1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
The white wine flavor completely overwhelms an otherwise delicious beer. The aroma is white wine. The flavor is white wine. If you care for wine, go all out, otherwise, stick with the Golden Monkey.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is influenced by grapes, vanilla and light fruity notes. The taste on the other hand, is very heavily influenced by the barrel-aging and the wine association is imminent. Bubbling underneath is pear, grapes and marzipan (I love marzipan!) along with wet wood, vanilla and hay. This brew is like having a wineyard grape trampler work all day in the sun, and then have him wrench his boxers into a keg of belgian tripel - and I mean that in a good way.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ 2SP. Pours a deep straw color with a white head that quickly falls, and leaves very little lacing. Smells of sweet oaky white wine and vinegar, some vanilla. Taste starts out kind of sweet, light and grapey, the barrel notes quickly take hold, vanilla, oak but the grape stays there throughout the finish. Medium bodied, and well carbonated, which keeps this beer from becoming syrupy.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours clear golden orange with a small white head. Smells intensely fruity, hints of wine. Taste is fruity, wine like, hints spiciness. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Victory White Monkey finishes with a smooth fruity white wine flavor.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Tastes like golden monkey, grainy and fruity. The wine presence was strong and wonderfully complementary. The wine smoothed the mouthfeel out. I liked it.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body under a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is more chardonnay like than Tripel like really. Very vinous, oaky, prominent buttery notes, and some light alcohol. Not much in the way of influence from the yeast. The flavor is very sweet, very heavy on the oak and chardonnay flavors. This doesn’t really resemble Golden Monkey much at all, which I say is a good thing. Pretty crazy how much vinous quality this has taken on. Fairly well hidden alcohol, but the more I have the warmer it does get. Rather thick and full bodied with a slight stickiness on the back end. Fairly active fizzy carbonation. Interesting beer, I think I really liked the first half of the bottle, but it got a bit tedious by the end of the bottle.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
THOUGHTS: Sort of a big vanilla bomb. Just like with the Red Thunder, I think the barrel aging sort of muted the beer flavors instead of blending with them and improving them. Maybe it’s just me.
TECHNICAL: Drank 3/20/2013. Bottle. Poured a clear, dark, golden yellow with a small to average, ever-so-slightly, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma had heavy pale malt; slight hoppiness, light spicy yeast; white wine; a little wood; light-colored fruit; pear, peach apricot; but MOSTLY vanilla. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, acidic and bitter; while the finish was lightly acidic and moderately sweet and bitter with a fairly long duration. There was vanilla, pale malt, light-colored fruit, light grassy and herbal hops, white wine, and some wood. The nearly medium body was fairly dry with a slightly soft but fizzy carbonation and a dry, lightly astringent and ever-so-slightly metallic finish.
