Bold, spicy, menacingly delicious HopDevil takes on an entirely new dimension when subjected to a wild yeast fermentation. A sharp, sourish edge has been added by this fermentations that plays into the caramel sweet malt deliciously and creates complex interplay with citrus accented hops.
Originally made in 2008-9, remade in 2014.

On tap at Proof. Pours a clear golden yellow with thin white head and light lacing. Aroma of funky Belgian yeast and fresh citrusy hops. Taste follows, a hint of peppery spice. Solid, one of the best things I’ve had from victory.

From the corked, caged 750 ml. bottle. It is an attractive orange=amber pour with a lingering, white head. Lots of carbonation. The aroma is subtle rather than sour. I get caramel malts and a dose of bitter hops penetrating the nose. Medium to above-medium body. When I drink a sour/wild ale I expect to "pucker up" but in this case the sourness is very muted. I would barely know it was a sour/wild ale except for the description. Malts and a clean finish that lingers. IN that regard it was a highly enjoyable beer considering sours are in my lower 30% range for favorite styles. I could drink this one more often.

From a bottle. Pours opaque copper with a foamy frothy off white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like lightly sour raisin, dried fruits, grassy, toast. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musky sour fruit, toast, straw, cracker malt.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber/copper with frothy off-white head. Aroma is bready malts, light raspberries, light caramel and toast, faint spice, and sour other sour esters. Flavor is dry malt base, medium floral hops, mixed berry esters, light sour notes, and faint caramel sweetness. Medium body and carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2014 Sample at Bearding bottle shop, Blairsville. Red orange with white head. Smell is sour sweet and hoppy. Taste is caramel malty with pine and fruit hop followed by light funky sour. Semi sweet and sour with medium bitterness and low carbonation.

750ml 2014 bottle.
Glass: Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Body is cloudy with an amber reddish hue, accompanied by a dense light tan head.
Aroma: Mildly sweet malts hinting at caramel, with a dash of spicy hops and a mild Brett notes. Good aroma.
Taste: Very nicely balanced with sweet caramel malts, hints of spicy hops, and a mild Brett lemony dryness. Hints of bubblegum as well. Finish is moderately dry.
Palate: Medium bodied and highly carbonated.
Overall: This is a darn good beer, complex and nicely balanced. I love how well they managed to balance the brett. Shame it’s a gusher.

Tap at muddy pig. Tulip glass. Copper with thick white head. Smells sour and slightly funky. A lot going on with this one. Very long lasting taste. Sweet and sour. Heavy sugar, almost candy . Tons of flavors combining in the mouth. The sourness is cut and balanced really well. Even my burp was complex and delicious. Very adventurous and very good.

Corked 750 ml that foamed up like a wild devil upon opening and pouring...the foam is as thick as the snow drifts outside...except this is dirty snow atop a medium brown body with some copper highlights.....light floral hop aroma and some added sour funk.....light piney and citrus hop flavor with pineapples as well ...its different, light and easy to drink...it grows on me the more I sip -rating from 2-10-2010

Tap at Busters. Really attractive copper color. Aroma is reminiscent of an imperial IPA. Appearance is super appealing. Lacing is strong. Very easy to drink and actually hides the alcohol well. Some citrus qualities coming from the heavy handed hops. Aftertaste is nice too. Impressed. The yeast presence is welcomed as it cuts the hop resin. Definitely a recommended option.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/11/2014. Pours slight hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Dense foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, black pepper, hay, straw, grass, light caramel, toast, bread, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops, funky/spicy brett, and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, black pepper, hay, straw, grass, caramel, toast, biscuit, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Large amount of earthy yeast spice/hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, apricot, black pepper, hay, straw, grass, caramel, toast, biscuit, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of funky/spicy brett, citrus hops, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Brett IPA. All around great complexity spicy/funky brett, citrus hops, and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
