egajdzis (2879), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, citrus fruits, caramel malts, and a farmy horseblanket over top. Taste was quite bitter, with some pine, citrus fruits, light caramel, and brett brux. Was just very faintly tart, but more of a bretty yeastiness throughout. The funk really came out at room temperature.
fredandboboflo (306), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 17, 2008 On tap at Blind Tiger. Aroma of pears, apples, earth, the color red. Flavor extremely interesting: sourness (more earthy than sour, but still sour), funk, spicy hops, tons of Belgian yeast (other than Brett), fruity/sweet esters (tangy mango, citrus, strawberry), a touch of pixie stix. A very nice mix of the Belgian yeast with that classically American base. Again, interesting is the best word (good interesting). JoeMcPhee (3643), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 16, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Pale amber coloured beer with a thin white head. Aroma is pretty nice, light pale malts, some crisp and lightly earthy character with a bit of minerally character over a lightly caramelly maltiness. The flinty bretty dryness is starting to show on the palate as well, underneath a soft zesty hoppiness. The beer will probably continue to evolve and dry out as there is still quite a bit of maltiness in the back. Fairly assertive spicy hoppiness. I quite like it. boto (1199), Granby, Connecticut, USA Jul 13, 2008 Draught @ Victory: This one pours a hazy, orangish color. There is a small off-white head that leaves some lacing. Citrus hops to the nose, but a bit more subdued than the Hop Devil. Some malts in the aroma also. The taste is quite good. A bit of sourness from the Brett is noticeable. A good bit of hoppiness (grapefruit mostly on top), as well a fairly decent amount of malts. Some spices also. Very Nice! DragonStout (1139), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 A handbottle courtesy of MGumby.Poured a golden color with a nice thin lacing white head.Nose was hoppy and seet.Flavor was bready, sweet, hoppy, and citrusy.Finish was hoppy and slightly dry. LilBeerDoctor (300), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 10, 2008 On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a cloudy orange with no head. Aroma of dulled citrusy hops, spicy apple. Flavor is dominated by spices (especially clove and corriander) which reminded me of a witbier. Also I got some oakiness and sour/sweet fruit in the finish. Thick mouthfeel. A very interesting beer that is nothing at all like Hop Devil. Not very sour or bretty either. Nevertheless, a good beer.
