For some reason, I was holding out hope that this would be more along the lines of a dunkelweizen - this is much more like a wit - thankfully, once I got past the expectations, I started to enjoy it - actually looks fantastic - hazy gold - lively pour - huge, rocky, lasting head - nose is aromatic, herbal, spicy/peppery, with notes of melon and orange peel - creamy texture - fairly frothy in the mouth - medium sweet pear and orange rind - light tanginess through the middle - becoming more dry , peppery, and spicy through the finish, with a little bit clove and a faint hint and other earthy phenolics - like a wit and Belgian ale hybrid - I actually kind of dig it, although it is a bit sweet.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Good aroma of wheat, citrus and spice. Average wheat beer color with a good foamy white head. Medium weight and carbonation; a little thicker, which I guess is resultant of the oat. Flavor of wheat and clove with some citrus bitterness.

Clear yellow pour with ring of white head. Sweet vanilla and clean wheaty notes. Very nice citrusy hop bite that lends itself in the finish. Very pleasant lingering aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 2014/15. Bright golden yellow, topped with a large fluffy white head. Lots of bubbles. Big hefe aroma… cloves, wheat, and yeast. Spicy. Loads of wheat and spice come through in the taste, with the yeast bringing up the rear. There is a hint of lemon peel in there, but minimal. Pretty decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at John’s Restaurant & Tavern in Winfield, IL., and shaker served showing a cloudy straw color, with a frothy and persistent layer of soft white head foam, and etched-like cling to the lacing. The nose was smooth wheat, subtle yeast, a hint of banana, spice as clove, some citrusy orange, and light tartness. Light bodied, with lively carbonation, the taste also presented a low, citrusy hop bitterness that lingered a bit. Alcohol was well hidden. Maybe spring or summer, but not what you’d expect for a winter brew. Tasty & sessionable nonetheless.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. A hazy amber pour with a billowing bright white head; a typical Witbier aroma - citrus peel, yeast and a touch of coriander; rich creamy texture in the mouth with some banana and clove; and a citrus finish. Rather good.
