3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy straw color with lots of suspended yeast floaties in the body. The head is a three finger white shade. Its texture is very soapy, and its retention is decent. Splotchy patches of lacing are left behind. As a *witbier*, it’s really good looking.
S: There’s a nice spice note, evoking black pepper, coriander, and sage. Some wheat hides behind this nicely, coming out more strongly as it warms up. The aroma is inviting if not mindblowing.
T: In general, the predominant flavor is ’spicy’. Note of coriander and black pepper give way to a finish of subtle orange peel. Wheat and candied sugar linger as secondary notes throughout. Really, it’s just a slightly sweeter than normal witbier, but the execution is damn solid. The sweetness never gets overwhelming.
M: I love how crisp this one is. There’s just enough sweetness to give it a thirst quenching quality, and the heartiness betrays its roots as both a winter ale and a high ABV wit. Carbonation is somewhat low for the style, and that helps its former qualities become amplified slightly.
O: This is not a dunkel, but a wit. And a good one. It’s one of those rare brews that would work in both winter and summer equally well. While it’s not what I expected, it still managed to be a very satisfying beer - one that I could drink multiple servings of. Don’t mind if I do...

Bottle drank in the hotel in Nashville - picked up at Shenanigan’s in Lexington. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy white head. Effervescent. The nose has wheat, yeast, lemon, biscuits, bubblegum, other phenolic notes. Light to medium sweet flavor with some sugary wheat, hints of white bread, white grape, hay, lemon candies, dough. Medium bodied with average carbonation and massaging texture. Fairly sweet on the finish, with further biscuits, melon, tangerine, some lemon meringue, straw. Easygoing and drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, fluffy, well retained white head, with minimal lacing, over a hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.......nose is wheat, fruits with light lemon notes, herbal hops, balanced......taste is wheat, light citrus fruits with primarily lemon tones, light clove, mild hints of banana/bubblegum, finishing with the barest wisps of hop bitterness.......mouth feel, light of medium body, minimal alcohol, high carbonation. This is an interesting wheat. It is not as spicy as the true Hefe’s, but is much more so than the typical American Wheat. BJCP 7/3/15/4/7

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hefe like but with a citrus bite to it not present in most hefs without the lemon wedge. Maybe they were going for a more subtle (and slightly more orange) version of that. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy straw color. Lots of sediment floating around. About two fingers white head. Good retention, some great lacing.
Aroma is bready. Banana and white pepper. Maybe some citrus zest. Yeasty aroma also.
Taste is banana and bready flavor. No doubt this is a wheat beer. Slight citrus, slight white pepper. Not a lot of bitter hops, maybe earthy hops.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied. High alcohol wheat beer and no alcohol taste. Pretty well carbonated. Very smooth and somewhat dry.
Overall this is quite good. Good combination of spices and fruit. It’s different for a winter seasonal, and it’s really good. If you find it, I would suggest going ahead and buying it. I would recommend it, and I would buy it again.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Delicious wheat that is very good all around! Pours pale gold w/ a good white head & solid lacing. The aroma has a really nice combination of fruit & spice. The taste is flavorful, crisp, & well balanced. There’s some hopiness upfront followed by some soft fruit notes to smooth the beer out. Well done!
