A weet porter with a good balance of complex flavors. Satisfied my girlfriend’s sweet beer craving.

Cask @ Victory Brewpub. Beautiful black beer. Served a little too cold, but I could still smell the chocolate aroma. Very smooth, creamy mouthfeel with no bitterness. Very nice porter.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2004 Tap @ Victory. Dark brown with decent head and lace. Rather faint nose (after I had a couple the milder brews smell rather faint to me). Very nice roasted flavor w mild unsweet chocolate, not sweet, quite smooth, a bit mild,( I don't remember hops here after drinking the nice, hoppy pils just before), just into the medium bodied category. I could have inhaled a gallon of this without much effort.

I wonder why they don’t bottle more of their beers. It does have a nice chocotately character to it, as the description suggests. A little nutty, pretty good. Not a huge fan of the porter style but no complaints here.

Burgundy appearance with a small head and little lacing. Some caramel in the aroma that was also a little nutty. Palate was a bit thin for a porter. Maybe a little closer in style to a brown ale. More of a coffee edge as it warms. Finish was short lived. Had greater expectations.

On tap at Victory. Poured a medium to darker reddish brown with an averaged sized off white head. Aroma and tastes of bitter chocolate. OK Porter but a little light all around.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SpringsLicker (2822) - Tennessee, USA - AUG 8, 2004
Growler from the brewery.
Poured a decent brown with an average head.
Roast malt and chocolate in the aroma, although a little weak.
The flavor was similar to the aroma with a somewhat thin mouthfeel.
Overall, it was a little disppointing.

On draft at the brewery. Deep garnet pour with a medium head. rich metallic aroma, hard to gauge the aroma due to the guy next to me blowing smoke in my face. Roasted malt flavor, nice choco-bitterness to finish. Very easy drinking, the finish makes this beer.

Draft @ brewery. Very light brown for a porter as was the taste and body. Light, gritty cocoa flavor was mostly predominant here. Drinkable but a bit dissapointing.

Deep red. Light roasts in nose, vaguely roasty in flavor with a bit of fruitiness at the end. Quite underwhelming considering Victory’s usual skills.
