COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The tenacious grip of big, juicy hop aroma and character slides smoothly into rich, dark malts. This heavyweight battle between fresh, Yakima Valley hops and dark, roasted malts is resolved harmoniously as the flavors merge to deliver complex satisfaction with a warming edge. Enjoy the ‘twilight’ for the bright and brassy hops!

This is one of the few beers not a milk stout or Scottish Ale that I would call silky smooth. It doesn’t kill you with either hops or malt, but it is very pleasant on both. If you like over the top hops, don’t bother, but on a cold winter night this is a wonderful IPA.

Deep brown with a tan head. Aroma is citrus and pine over a sweet malty background. Medium body. Flavor has a mix of dry, rustic malts and piney, citrus hops. A bit maltier and sweeter than many BIPAs I’ve had. Still, not a huge fan of the style. Decent brew.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2013 Bottle into a goblet. Pour is a ruby black with a thick head. Aroma is hops on hops with a warm malt under tone. Taste is a ipa with a fine malt ale under merge. Finish is the same first bitter then warm. A very good ipa ale.

Deep dark maroon color, medium tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, brown bread. Taste is similar. Nice stuff.

Hoppy, fruity, delicious aroma of NW hops, with grapefruit, pineapple, apricot, nuts, and malt. The taste is bitter, with an initial sweet, fruity impression that devolves into an earthy, peppery bitter toward the end, all along accompanied by sweet malts. Solid, medium mouthfeel. Very, very good.

Pours dark amber with a thin wispy tan head. Notes of thick caramelized wort, resinous hops, sour citrus, grapefruit, spice, pepper, and alcohol. Full to heavy bodied with lush carbonation.

Yakima Glory pours reddish brown with a finger width off white head. There is good head retention, and plenty of lacing sticks to the glass. The first aroma I find in Yakima Glory is citrus, including grapefruit and lemon. I expected more of a roasted aroma in this beer, but I couldn’t pick any out of the bouquet. It smells like a regular American IPA to me, which means it smells hoppy and delicious! As I take my first sip, the citrus turns into pine. There is a slightly sweet caramel flavor in the middle, and it ends dry with a bitter finish. Yakima Glory has a medium body, and average carbonation. There is no presence of the 8.7% ABV at all in this beer, so be careful! Yakima Glory is a good IPA, however I prefer Victory’s HopDevil and Hop Wallop. Also, I am not sure how this qualifies as a Black IPA. To me, no matter what ingredients were used, it comes off as a hopped up amber or red ale. I noticed that Victory doesn’t call this a black IPA anywhere. In the beer description, they admit to using some dark malts, which, in my opinion, doesn’t exactly make it a black IPA. All in all, Yakima Glory is still a good beer!

Pours dark brownish/red . Some hops but also malty aroma. Caramel/ roasted malt followed by bitterness. And bright hops. Not very aromatic. With Yakima in the name, expected more hop flavor.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2013 Pours dark reddish brown with medium lasting foam. Smell is nice pine hops and caramel malt. First sip is very bitter, but the next one is nice sweet smooth malt with a heavy bitter kick at the end, nice beer.

Poured out of a bottle Dark copper to light brown in color Small off white head that lingers Aroma is of sweet malt with a hint of hops Taste is robust and malty but has enough bitterness to balance everything out A very complex yet easy drinking and enjoyable beer
