COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The tenacious grip of big, juicy hop aroma and character slides smoothly into rich, dark malts. This heavyweight battle between fresh, Yakima Valley hops and dark, roasted malts is resolved harmoniously as the flavors merge to deliver complex satisfaction with a warming edge. Enjoy the ‘twilight’ for the bright and brassy hops!

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2008 Draught at Victory: Aroma of hops, grapefruit, pine, slight caramel malt, light toasting, slight resin, slight chocolate, and citrus. Poured brown/ruby in color with a medium-sized, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is heavily bitter. Tastes of hops, light chocolate, malts, pine, spruce, citrus, slight tobacco, light resin, citrus, and a hint of salt. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Hoppy, bitter, light resin finish.

On tap at the brewpub... Pours dark brown w a small head... Huge hop aroma... Huge hop taste with a bit of a roasty/burn malt backing, quite balanced, the flavors play very nicely... I have a hard time saying this classifies as an IPA, you could argue the nuances of that for days... Imperial Brown Ale or Imperial Amber Ale just isnt as sexy these days...

Pint on tap at Capones. Poured a darker brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of pine, earhty, roasty, floral, toasted malts, and some citrus. Tastes of pine, roasted malts, earthy, citrus, and lighter caramel. Alcohol content well hidden. Lacing left on the glass. More on the hoppy side vs. a balanced IIPA. If I had to choose, I would list this under and IPA, although if a Black IPA were a style, this would fit that.

Taste of citrus fruits, pine, resiny tobacco, molasses, caramel malts, toast, and grapefruit, with light alcohol as well.

On tap at Capones. Pours a deeper brown with a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma of citrus, pine, caramel, orange hard candy, toasted malt, molasses and toffee. Flavor of toasted malt, caramel, nuts, piney and citrus hop notes. Well done toasty and hoppy double ipa.

It is not really fair to rate a cask beer along with regular drafts and bottled beers because the cask always starts with a slight advantage. Fantastic freshness and fantastic mouth feel. I had this at the brewery and almost feel as if it were brewed specifically for me. Dark chestnut brown with a small head. Nose of sweet caramel and hops hops hops, with assorted citrus. Now, I am a sucker for hops and in the cask version that hoppy bitterness would have been almost overwhelming if not perfectly balanced with sweet deep malty notes. Bitter finish just lasts and lasts. I love it.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2008 Whoa this is dark! Darker brown with a medium head. Aroma is heavy on the raw hops with earthy, floral, tobacco leavey hops overflowing from the nose. Flavor is a well balanced (IMHO as a hop head), sweet, hop-driven ball of goodness that is damn good - features lots of heavy earthen, woodsy, floral hops and a nice malt sweetness that just works. Best fresh/wet hop beer I’ve had. Really nice mouthfeel. Awesome.

On cask at the brewpub. A murky dark brown beer topped by a lasting khaki head. Smells of grass, citrus, floral, and pine. Taste exhibits deep lasting bitterness with some floral, pine, grass, and tea flavors. Lasting bitter finish. This one was pretty ugly as far as DIPAs go but oh so tasty.
