COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The tenacious grip of big, juicy hop aroma and character slides smoothly into rich, dark malts. This heavyweight battle between fresh, Yakima Valley hops and dark, roasted malts is resolved harmoniously as the flavors merge to deliver complex satisfaction with a warming edge. Enjoy the ‘twilight’ for the bright and brassy hops!

It’s been a while since my last rate. But damn... Great beer. Much thanks to the bartender at fuel & fuddle for letting me know about it. One of my most favorite IPAs ever.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a half finger of off white head. Aromas of resin and floral notes, and a tad bit of roasty malts. Those wet hops are the story, big bitterness with hardly anything else going on. Thin and easy going down. I wish the malts had more of an impact.

12oz. bottle. Pours hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of citrusy hops, a touch of toasted malts, a hint of sweetness, and grapefruit. Tastes bitter with hops, toasty, caramel, a hint of citrus. Very dry on the tongue. A nice start to NYE.

Look: Dark brown almost ruby red, 1 1/2 finger creamy off-white head. Smell: Citrus, mild grass, roasted malt, caramel sweetness, spiciness. Taste: Spicy hops, citrus, floral, pine in the burp, cherries, chocolate, caramel, smokey roasted malt, nice lingering bitterness. Feel: Medium-light body, soft carbonation. Overall: This was put together nicely. Nice bitter bite. Not really a "Black IPA", more of a "Dark IPA". One of my favorite seasonals. Recommended.

pours dark brown with pretty ruby red hilights and clear. Nice thick tan head that hung out and laced the glass nicely. THe aroma is plenty of hops: citrus, pine floral, lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc, with, as it warmed, a background of roasted malts. Medium to medium well body, good carbonation with a bitter hop malt dry finish. On the tongue you will get that fast out of the gate hop charge as smelled in the aroma and it will be followed and overtaken by the roasted malts and some caramel. Hop bitterness lingers. I must admit, the more BIPAs/CDAs, whatever you want to call them, I’m starting to think, why not just hang with the IPAs.

March Madness 2011 Aroma - almost no noticeable aroma Appearance - Dark amber, clear, moderate head Taste - Is this a Black IPA or a Black Pale Ale? Taste is indecisive Palate - mediume body, good carbonation Overall - Not a beer I would (personally) drink regularly but pretty tasty with a unique flavor.

Deep amber pour, thick off-white head, laces nicely. Big hop aroma with malty sweetness in the background. Quite impressively balanced; the hops are definitely at the forefront, but there is a molasses-y sweetness to the malt backbone that is surprising and lovely. Interesting that an East Coast brewery has created such a fitting tribute to Pacific NW hops. A wonderful beer.

Nice caramel appearance and strong mouth feel - floral hops and smooth finish - another fine brew from Victory.

1. Look – An amber-brown color ale with a slightly tan head. 2. Sniff – This dark ale has a big citrus aroma with roasted malt notes as well. 3. Sip – This full bodied dark ale is very complex. It has characteristics of brown ale, but also a citrusy hoppy flavor as well. Also, the roasted malt flavors make this a very flavorful ale. 4. Another Look – This is a good looking ale, with weak lacing. 5. Evaluate – Overall, this is a different ale in many regards. This complex dark ale is full of flavor and has characteristics of a brown ale and IPA. This combination of styles makes for an interesting ale that disguises the alcohol well. I would recommend this ale to those who enjoy brown ales, harvest ales, or hybrid style ales in general.

I’m not usually a fan of black IPA but this is delicious. Roasty chocolate currant flavor in the malts balanced well with a heaping of piney citrus hops. A little warmth from the alcohol.
