3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks bro! Pours dark ruby to brown with a wet tan head. Sweet malty and hop aroma. Initially very hoppy and bitter but mellows out into a warm woody finish with some lingering bitterness. Slightly sharp but foamy. Haven’t had too many black IPAs but I think this was a good choice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ beerbistro, Toronto.
Not black, but brown! Little nose, some nuts and caramel, no head.
Quite flat taste. Despite the high ABV unremarkable. Caramel, dry, bitter. Ok.

Bottle. Was looking forward to this since its announcement. Pretty and dark. Robust, balanced aroma, everything from celery to caramel to chocolate. Everything is amplified with this beer - big malt, big bitterness. Nothing really subtle about this beer IMO. Big flavor. Almost tealike in its dry bitterness. Actually kind of smells like a brewery - but its a mustiness I actually find appealing. I love this beer.

On tap at Cap Ale. Really great! Perfect malty, hoppy balance. Caramel, nutty, effervescent. I really liked this one.

On draft, Dark copper to light brown with a tan head and some decent lacing. Floral notes on nose with an interesting malt to caramel touch. Mouthfeel is medium bodied while starting on the hoppy side and finishing on the sweater side with front tongue feel.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
pours dark amber with a good 2 finger loose head that was pretty slow to fall and greyish beige in color. the body is a beautiful deep maroon amber with very few bubbles showing. the aromas are a hoppy malt scent with some some in your face fruit and sugars with a little bit of beet or prune. it is medium bodied and is almost like a westcoast style american strong. i taste a lot of full malt with an awsome balance of hops coming in when it finishes. it finishes buttery and clings and has a really nice aftertaste which is kind of sweet. nice beer from PA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had to rate this. I casually picked it up, thinking that it’d just be a nice, session harvest pale ale. Anything but...this baby needs a little time...
Spicy/herbal/pungent hop aroma. Very green (young) on the nose. Faint roast, but you know it’s there. Creamy entry. Bitter, hop assault. Faint, caramel/toasty background show through and balance the hops nicely.
A hint of Europe? Tasty, but not fully integrated by any means. It’s supposed to be about the hops and it still will be...when you drink it a year from now! A good, and potentially great, American "Strong" Ale. Cheers!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle into tulip. A medium sized light tan head briefly tops a ruby brown body. Aroma is mildly piney, with some roasted malt, caramel, and alcohol. Flavor is mostly bitter, citrus pith and pine is somewhat harsh, a little grassy, nutty with underlying sweetness. Medium full and smooth carbonation. A bit of a chore at times and lacking cohesion. Not so harmonious a resolution in this battle.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Black IPA is an unfair label to hang on this fine brew. Burnished ruby on the pour with a firm cap of eggshell foam that will float a cap. Very piney aroma with a solid whiff of caramelized sugar is my take on the nose. While this is not really a winter warmer, it fills the bill in the temperate climate of coastal Georgia. There is a heavy dose of sweet malt here balanced nicely by the juicy hop bitterness with hints of cocoa and smokey peat. Victory should brew this year ’round!

Aroma is kin of earthy, or nutty. Slight head. Deep, dark burgundy red in color. Thin, light carbonation, citrus or hoppy in taste. Lingering finish.
