The tenacious grip of big, juicy hop aroma and character slides smoothly into rich, dark malts. This heavyweight battle between fresh, Yakima Valley hops and dark, roasted malts is resolved harmoniously as the flavors merge to deliver complex satisfaction with a warming edge. Enjoy the ‘twilight’ for the bright and brassy hops!

Pours a dark brown, two finger creamy head that clings nicely. Not much in the nose. Get the malts, hops but hops seem to lack the citrus. The first sip was quite bitter, but then things balanced out nicely with the malt sweetness, toasted malts coming through. Some grapefruit bitterness on the end. Pretty well balanced, not overly carbonated. A bit of warmth at the end. An enjoyable brew, will have again once in a while.

12 oz. Celebrating number 50 with a brew my dad picked out. Pours a dark mahogany, wonderfully inviting, with a billowing beige head (took me by surprise--pour slowly!). Aroma reminded me of Boy Scout Camp; fresh, clean, forest pine air, some citrus, and earthiness akin to dead leaves. Taste was both bitter hops and sweet malt, balanced such that they were inseparable with each sip, reminded me red wine, making a wonderfully harmonious beer. Finished sweet and clean, with a barely noticeable hint of alcohol. Went great with pizza.

Deep red-brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is big sweet fruits, caramel and bread. Taste is also bittersweet fruity with hints of wine, some coffee. Good stuff.

Bottle. Lots of pine resin and floral notes on the nose. Roasty malts and a kinda orange zest flavor. Nice head, but not great lacing. I would definetly have this again, though not in a flight, it makes everything else with it fall flat.

Had on tap at Dunedin house of beers. Excellent beer. Highly drinkable for such high a high alcohol content. Not overly hoppy. Reminded me of a great double bock.

Very thick, creamy and tasty ale. This has a bitter kick after a drink, definitely one of my favorites

Like an American Style Barley Wine with less body, still rich and sticky with a lot of crystal malt and some Munich character, hops are there mostly in flavor and bitterness, but are not crisp or identifiable. Typical Victory house yeast character is apparent is this one. Good but not outstanding. Needs more hop aroma for what they are going for, try more dry hops or more late addition hops. Cheers, Alex

Pretty bitter beer. Tastes a lot like what I would imagine pine trees taste like. If you like bitter beers, I would recommend it.

32oz growler. Pours a dark, but attractive brown with a 1 inch head that fades away. Chewy and maltly. Malts dominate this beer. The ABV shows up at the end while hiding behind the cabonation during the initial taste. 1 pint is the right amount for this crafty beer.

Pour in tulip glass. Rich mahogany color, sad thin, pale-white head. Great aroma of big wet hops as well as oak and vanilla, some fruit like cherry. Good sweet caramel malt combines with bitterness. Has a measure of peppery in there too. Enjoyed the taste of this Black IPA over Flying Monkey’s because of the subtle notes and non-caffeine taste. Finishes very dry and quite bitter.
