COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The tenacious grip of big, juicy hop aroma and character slides smoothly into rich, dark malts. This heavyweight battle between fresh, Yakima Valley hops and dark, roasted malts is resolved harmoniously as the flavors merge to deliver complex satisfaction with a warming edge. Enjoy the ‘twilight’ for the bright and brassy hops!

Draft @ Cole’s. Ruby/brownish body, thin ring of head. Nose is big hop bitterness, some kind of honey malts, a little roast. Flavor is quite hoppy without enough to balance it out. Light roasted malt. Meh.

Bottle, $2.25 from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a slightly murky brown with a 2" tan head. Sour hop notes in the nose. Flavors of soap and sour hops. OK, not great.

Very hoppy character. Aroma is of hops and pine. Complex beer that finishes sharp. Has a lot of character... grassy, roasted, pine, slight hint of caramel. Very hoppy IPA with alittle extra edge.

Bottle at plovmand tasting. Pours a dark amber with a white head. There’s something unpleasant about the aroma (kolort agtigt) but also notes of roasted malt, pine, caramel, fruity hops and hay. Flavour is quite bitter with notes of caramel, earl grey tee and peach.

Reviewed from notes. Pours reddish brown with a nice off white head with decent enough staying power. Some nice legs on the way down. The nose brings forward quite a bit of malt character with some dark fruits and candied dark sugar. Also a fair amount of piney, resinous hops. The taste is a letdown, with some sweet malt failing to really interact with the piney hops, and the darker fruits get lost in the background. Feel is somewhat sweet, yet still a bit dry. Overall, an interesting beer with some decent characteristics, but not my favorite and pales in comparison to some others within this emerging style. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-21-2010

On tap at Paddy Long’s Chicago. Pours dark slightly ruby brown. Flavor is too hop forward and dominates the sweetness and rich maltiness that is present, but overshadowed. Hardcore hopheads will enjoy this but I did not as I found it too unbalanced and harsh. Also, has a noticeably strong alcohol note.

Big tan head over amber-red body (thought this was suppose to be a black IPA?) Aroma of grass and lemony hops and some oxidation and chalk. Taste of big bitterness upfront and more bitterness afterwards. Roast and coffee (doesn’t come out in aroma much, but in flavor) palate hoppy and roasty

Pours a dark cola brown color with a thin mocha-taupe head. This beer was served too cold, so the aromas are muted. Chocolate and cola notes. A little flat, with a medium body. A lot if complexity. Chocolate, cola, vanilla, with a touch if bourbon, and bourbony alcohol. Cola sweetness and extraordinarily bitter.

Best by 30NOV12 Pours a dark brown with a solid sheet of toasted cracker foam, the ale is surprisingly translucent. Lots of pine and resin in the nose with a bit of spruce character; the malts are toasted and like a brown ale: some tea character, a touch of spice and rye bread. Flavor is toasted malts, refined and soft bitterness and plenty of pine flavor. The malts are slightly spicy and a bit dry. Thin body with hi carb and a slick finish. This beer was worth trying, not sure I’d seek it out often. Serving type: bottle 09-14-2012
