3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Purchased at Kulminator. Labeled Oud Vieille Villers Dubbel. Vintage 1997. Dark brown body with lovely garnet edges. Small tan head resting on top. Nose is sort of strong malts, maybe creme brulee, and watery coca with some tarter fruit notes. taste is rich and "meaty" with caramel, spices, sweetened malt, faint fruit notes and light brown sugar. Body feels a bit on the thin side but retains a decent carbonation feel and a lingering spice on the tongue. Almost a bit of tartness or sharpness as well. Finish is thin also while holding onto it’s spicy and cocoa flavors along with maltiness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ruby red-brown with an off white head. Malty extract nose with peppery licorice and alcohol and a hint of dark passion fruits in the mouth. Too much sweetness and a roast barley notes although the extra malt is nice.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sweet malty aroma, with some brown sugar, molasses, and light bitter-sour hop character. Dark reddish-brown clear, with foamy off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium-heavy carbonation. Starts with some malty sweetness, more dry though, with mild astringent bitterness. Caramel and a little bit of molasses come through in the finish, with some stale hops, papery notes. After has a little alcohol and light nuttiness. Decent, but nothing special.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is fruit and brown sugar, deep garnet, and a small toffee head. Flavour has plums, prunes, raisins too. Fairly complex, medium bodied, extra bitter. Very good!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Reddiosh brown body with a good sized fluffy off white head. Aroma has some maltiness with alcoholic undertones. Flavour has a strong malt character with a subtle hint of chocolate at times. A bitter-sour tang lurking about detracts from it in my opinion but it is still a nice beer, with a medium mouth feel. Sampled @ Smokeless Joes with DougShoemaker.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
31 May 2004 - Intense sweet fruity hop malt aroma with a light hop spice. Dark chocolate brown, small head retention, no lacing with slight cloudiness. Over hopped bitterness with a dry finish. Lingering hop taste with a spicy sweet malt flavour. Finish was a bit fizzy and lighter mouthfeel than I expected. Promises much but lets you down.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark ruby with a small thick creamy head. Aroma light malt and a bit of dry liquorice. Flavour is a quick sharp hit of alcohol followed by a slow sweet liquorice flavour. It is a kind of weird beer, if it is according to some old recipe it makes sense as weird ass flavours were considered to heal you.... maybe someone ought to point out that nowadays we don’t believe that so much and balancing the old recipe out flavourwise wouldn’t be a bad idea, of course keeping the old trditions is important but not at the cost of improvement. Most homebrewers do it hehehe.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma was licorice, malt and lightly spicey hops. Appearance is dark brown with a hint of red, slightly cloudy with a smallish head. Flavour was quite like a Delirium Tremens mixed with licorice and carbon. Way too much carbonation. Quite disapointing.
