From tap at Vielanker Brauhaus. It’s very dark brown with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee and roasted malt - nice. The flavour has notes of coffee, roasted malt, a slightly dry citrussy bitterness, and the body is full and nice. It’s very porter like and doesn’t have the very pronounced sweetness that many German Schwartzbiers have. It’s one of the really good ones!

May 27, 2008 Bottle at home - tasting. Dark dark brown - offwhite head. Roasted, red berries, dark bread, ryebread, sweetness, brown sugar. Very nice - a bit too sweet - needs some burned malts.

May 25, 2008 Pours a clear dark brown. Medium bitter and sweet with aromas of brown sugar and burnt caramel. Medium to low carboantion. Meidum bodied. Dry finish.

Sep 6, 2007 Bottle. Nearly black body, small off-white creamy head, mostly diminishing. Light smell of malt and cola, roasted coffee shines through. Medium bitter start, gets even more bitter at the end, lightly sour. Medium body, oily but watery texture, average carbonation, bitter and surprisingly long finish. Good one
