Haha, you know you’re drinking something obscure when almost everyone who has rated this has >2500 ratings. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Dark amber, small head, black yeasties on the bottom. Smells and tastes of extremely thick cherries. Sugary but not artificially tasting so. Oakish, a tiny but smoky, mature, refined. Would be great by the fire on a cold night with sausage and cheese. Was the dust on the bottle intentional, I wonder?
Mes_and_Sim (4476), Highgate, Greater London, England May 31, 2008 A Mes rate: 1992 bottle at DHVL shared with Reakt. Pale red brown colour and still gripping on to a head. Wonderfully dry and there is still plenty of sweetness from the cherries. I’m guessing when new this was seriously sweet as I’m amazed how much sweetness is left. Sourness is restrained but clearly there and gives it a lovely balance and coupled with the dryness makes it really drinkable. There is a strange smoky note to it that I guess must be down to age. Other wild berry fruits appear the more I sip adding more and more complexity. Mouthfeel and finish are sublime thanks to the dryness. An excellent beer and one I was upset to see finished. Thomas_E (5065), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 4, 2008 Vintage 1990. Cloudy reddish colour with a white head. Fruity, tart, yeasty and light cherry sweet aroma. Fruity, tart flavor with a yeasty light citric note and hints of cherry. henrikb (1125), Aarhus, Denmark Mar 9, 2008 Bottle from around 1990 - Amber body with a huge forever lasting whipped egg white head; Simple sugary candy like nose; Huge carbonation in simple citrus fruity and malic sour body; Quite dry tartaric finish, sweet fake kriek aromas. To old, or never any good, I think both. Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 24, 2008 Bottle (Vintage 1990) at home (Oscar Night) - shared with Mette. Clear red/amber - Big light pink head. Cherry, light almonds, light marzipan, fresh, sweetness, light acid/sour. Nice aroma. Lovely still very fresh and good !!! Brix (364), Denmark Feb 24, 2008 Tasted 2008-02-24. Vintage approx 1990 - I wonder if I bought mine the same place as some of the other dudes here. :-) The cap was almost rusted through, the cork was soaking wet. When the cork was pulled, I got a ’fizzzz’! Happy happy! Pours semi clear, earth toned red/brown with big, white head. Aroma: Cherries, brett, apple pie, soft funk. Flavours: Slightly bitter, nicely sour. Good and round funky taste. Very dry mouthfeel, good fizzle, great body - complex. In one word: Great!
