2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled, 330ml, from E. LeClerc Vouziers. Gold amber with white head. Quite a dull Belgian Ale, a little spice, quite sweet, a bit rough around the edges, quite poor really. Disappointing.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Amber with a moderate white head. This did nothing for me. Tired hop aroma with some soggy yeast. Flavour was forgettable before a dry finish limped into view. And I thought Palm Speciale was dull...

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Malty, Apples, Plums and yeast but I understand it has changed over the years to a boring beer. 481 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Spritzy red amber pour with generous white head. Sourish yeasty aroma with a hint of woodsiness. Mellow dusty spice, yeasty dryness, banana, wheat, metal, and lingering doughy malt afters. Leaning towards a very bitter Wit or biscuity Alt. Refreshing and flavour-packed for the ABV, and a considerably better beer than recent reviews give it credit for.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: APR 22, 2009 25cL bottle from Malmedy. Rather average ale. Small head that disappeared quickly. A good pub beer, but nothing amazing.

On tap at Mirabelle, Brussels. Was new to me. Spicy but a bit bland nonetheless. Just another ale.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2006 On tap into its own glass, Au Bon Vieux Temps, Brussels. Don’t come here. I don’t know why I did; I was wandering around Brussels, slightly drunk, just hopping from place to place, and the little alley this sits in looked mysterious and inviting. I walked in the place to see two old women gossiping at the bar. Tap list sucks. Anyway, thought I’d try the namesake beer. Almost clear gold with sticky fizzy off-white head. Racing amounts to a few straggling bubbles (around 5 bubbles, plus or minus 1). Smells like a yeasty bready dubble with some bad cheese. Bland. Kind of minty, slightly medicinal, with a soggy piece of bread disolved in half a pint of water as the main impression. Body is not bad, somewhat fizzy. Not worth 3 Euro.
