Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2007 12 oz bottle.Hazy brown color, small off white head that had a good hang time then faded slowly to leave a bit of a lace behind. The aroma was fruity and caramelish with a decent but mild hop showing. The flavor was nicely done, fruity spicey flavor with a decent malty side and a good feel all around.Could use a bit more of this and that but over all it’s a pretty decent brew, and well worth trying again. hey_kevin (1261), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Dec 23, 2004 Light sweet styrian aroma. Surprisingly funky yeast character. Some decent dark malts (special B?) Good estery character. Reminiscent of Dupont yeast? Nice. igneous1 (1360), Davenport, Iowa, USA Jan 21, 2006 deep reddish amber, beige head. aroma is of mild chocolate and strawberry. flavor is dominated by sugar, strawberry, no chocolate present...has sort of a plasticy finish..the only real flaw i taste. BBB63 (3767), La Porte, Indiana, USA Oct 17, 2004 At the GHBF: Ruby hued with a small tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of green apple and toasted buttery malts, honey and some candi sugars, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts with even more apple overtones. I never had a beer with this much fruity character that wasn’t actually a fruit beer! Minor bitters and malt makes it balanced. There is a slight, that’s SLIGHT vegetable undertone that does distract away from the main flavors. The feel is lively not aggressive. This is NOT A DUBBEL, a Single or just a Belgian Ale. I am rating it against those styles. This is so unique that I like it. SDbruboy (1819), San Diego, California, USA Dec 11, 2004 Bottle - many thanks to badgerben. Pours dark chestnut color, virtually opaque with a moderate tan head that diminishes mostly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is sweet, brown sugar and dark brown bread. Flavor is sweet and spicy like cinnamon roll with molasses and a floral hop garnish. Medium to full body and mildly carbonated. Nice treat from the midwest!
