Bomber who knows how old poured a hazy reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of toffee, sherry and dried fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, dried fruit and light sherry with a smooth lingering dried fruit finish.

"Ok, back to the US. Had this on draught the other day at the OF. Viking has been inconsistent in taste. Over the last few years Iíve been suprised by and dissapointed. This was sort of the in the middle. They produce many different styles each yeah, but I feel that they need to focus on quality more then quantity. The Bwine was nice, but not very complex. Alcohol was concealed suprisingly. Canít imagine its 12%. Caramel and fresh hops, just my thing, but they seemed too weak. Needs to be jacked up a bit. It came across like Imp IPA yet not as dank and not as sweet. "

12 oz. bottle from skyview. Pours dark brown with a small beige film. The aroma is sweet chewy caramel, raisins and a touch of citrus. The flavor is more sweet caramel, brown sugar, hints of citrus and molasses. Very much an English barley wine. Much more one dimensional than the others we had on this day.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Opaque amber-brown color. Thick and chunky. Thin layer of beige head. Lots of pungent funky notes. Raisin, funked out toffee. Could have benefited from some hoppiness, tastes and smells rather devoid. Big and sugary. Pretty sub-par for the style, a beer only a mega-homer could love. Very English feel to it, but also sort of gross.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured cloudy reddish brown copper color with a minimal frothy off-white head that mostly diminished with little lacing. Moderate dark fruit, toasted caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a complex beer.

I split this bottle among a couple friends. The bottle pored into oversized wine glasses produced almost no head even with a rough pour. I must say I didnít hear much in the way of carbonation coming from the bottle when opened. The body was a dark, dark brown almost black. The aroma was slightly oxidized. I didnít know the age of the bottle nor is this not expected by me in a barleywine. I did get some nice toffee and fruit notes too. The flavor was sweet and almost candy like with some dark fruits to it. There was not to much in the way of alcohol heat. It had a medium body with almost no carbonation as mentioned before. It was a good barleywine. Nothing I would go out of my way to look for but, wouldnít mind drinking again

Tap @ the Old Fashioned - Pours murky brown with barely a head. Smells of sweet toffee and caramel -- malty and big. Tastes of big toffee and sweet fruit: melon, cherries, and raisins. A bit of heat on the finish. Smooth and well-carbonated, this is only good if youíre in the mood for sweet.

Thanks for sharing bro. Pours a rich mahogony color with thin light tan head. Aroma is of light notes of dark fruit, brown sugar, light caramel and earthy resinous hops. Taste is brown sugar, light caramel and toffee, light medicinal notes and dark fruit. Alcohol is well hidden and body is creamingly smooth with light carbonation.

Pours a reddish-mahogany color with a medium off-white head which fades rather quickly. Aroma is light resinous hops, dark fruit, brown sugar, and caramel malts. Taste was quite medicinal, caramel malts, and brown sugar. Very different taste than most Barley Wines, but the mouthfeel was there but a bit too medicinal.

Bottle. Pours a very hazy deep brown color with minimal head. Seems that the Viking beers are still somewhat under carbonated. Flavor is rich and sweet, slightly resinous and milk chocolate along with roasted malts. Very sweet with a slight hops presence and alcohol burn at the finish. Medium to full bodied. Overall not a bad effort.
