Aug 4, 2007 Aroma is slightly vinegary and sweet. Dark brown body with a quickly diminishing head. Flavor is light roasted malt, some chocolate, slight dirt/earthen flavor. Palate is weak and lacks carbonation. This bottle may be past prime. Flavor was pretty good nonetheless.

Jul 5, 2007 (12oz bottle) Small tan head atop hazy dark brown body. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, confectionery sugar, light hazelnut. Taste is sweet, chocolate, some caramel, icing, faint alcohol. Watery medium body, undercarbonated.

Jul 4, 2007 Dark amber color, small foamy head. This beer doesn’t get the ratings of the best doppelbocks, but the taste is right there. Soft malts, a bit of bittering hops. This is one of the better brews that Viking makes, and the soft water that they use works well to complete it.

May 16, 2007 12 ounce bottle. Shaker glass. Dark brown with a thin head. Aroma was malt and sour apple. Taste was sweet roast malt, dark chocolate and a touch of sourness on the finish. Not bad.

Apr 21, 2007 Picked up single bottle at Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pours a dark clear amber with a small off-white head. Dissolves fast to a decent lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, brown sugar, allspice and a touch of butterscotch. Flavor is lightly carbonated, smooth and a sweet aftertaste. Palate is light body.
