Bottle bought at Myvatn Natural Baths, Iceland. Pours dark red/brown/hazel, clear with a thick, well developed beige head that fades fast. Aroma is very malty with some rye, other cereals and perhaps a tiny hint of dark fruits and toffee. Malt dominates everything though so isn’t that complex. Taste is moderate bitterness with a hint of sweet. Malt finish is long. Surprisingly carbonated and medium bodied. Not a bad effort from this pseudo craft brewery.

330ml bottle at the Bistro in Reykjavik The bock poured deep dark reddish brown. There was a small head off white in color. This is excellent bock full of flavor and sublte bitterness. The medium body bock has average carbonation. This is very smooth bock with smooth finish with wanting more.

330 ml bottle kindly provided by my work colleague, Cecilie. Clear mahogany colored body and a dense light brown head. Wooden notes give way to more caramel and rock sugar on the nose. Full bodied and overcarbonated with a little alco warmth. Sweet caramel sauce with a bitterness that has a papery tinge to it.

330ml bottle @ Rosenberg, Reykjavik 12.Jul.2012 Dark mahogany body with spare beige head. Roasted, dark fruits and coffee beans. Pretty good, but not on a sunny summer night in Reykjavik. Time to go home- as I’ve sampled all the Icelandic beers in Rosenberg and starting to become both tired and tipsy after a long and sunny day in Iceland.

Looks beautiful, good foam and color is nice. That´s about it. Malty character is missing from what the color indicates. Slight taste of bittering hops. No aroma.

haukur (1335) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - FEB 24, 2012
very floral aroma, not the hoppy kind but of the bitterness kind, some hay, cereal, dust. Incredibly malty. Dark brown with small but firm film of a head. Medium bitterness, long malty finish. Full bodied, thick texture with an avarage carbonation, long malty bitter finish. Again, this brewer proves he can brew a very good bock.

gyllenbock (4951) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 14, 2011
Bottle bought in Reykjavik, March 2011. Clear amber with a creamy, slightly tan head. A lot of malt both in the aroma and taste. Light notes of hops. Sweet taste with toffee and some dried fruit. Also some notes of alcohol. Medium carbonation and a short aftertaste. The body was medium. Drinkable but not that exciting.
