Bottle from Myvatn Nature Baths, Iceland. Pours black with a thick tan head that fades quickly to lighter tan lacing that stays till the end. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, in particular espresso, dark chocolate, wood some herbs. Flavour is a little sweet with a moderate bitterness that has a long finish and an aftertaste a little like grass. Almost no carbonation and fairly thin bodied. Easily drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an almost opaque black with a small brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, espresso and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, cocoa, dark chocolate and bitter roasted malts. Nice dry finish with a medium light body but a complexity of flavors. Carbonation is a bit too high in this beer and something more to give it a bit more body or a slick mouthfeel would make this wonderful stout great!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Stofan, Reykjavik, apparently 6.5% ABV
Black color with generous head. Light aroma of roasted malt, metallic. Smooth mouthfeel; plain roasted malt flavor, not ashy, with a light lactose touch that contributes to the balance; correct bitterness; but the final is metallic.
Monodimensional, not bad but plain.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Vinbudin in Reykjanesbaer (BB Oct 2015). Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt grain, coffee, bitter chocolate, Oreo cookie), lightly hoppy (herbs, grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. All righty, now we’re talking...this is quite solid and very drinkable. Energetic aroma that’s got a little more malt depth than your basic stout. Good finishing bitterness and enough malt sugars leftover to provide a pretty rich drinking experience for its size. Good stuff.
