About Packaging Víking Lager Up The most popular draught beer in Iceland for some years, Viking Lager, is now also available in cans. It is pleasantly mild with a slightly sweet flavor. Less filling and more refreshing than many other beers, Víking Lager has an alcohol content of 4,5%, making it ideal for those who prefer a medium-strength beer with less bitterness.

Sadly, this one reflects the current state of beer brewing in Iceland. No worse than many other pale lagers and actually better than some of the widely sold such beers in the US. Can be consumed on a hot summer day (not that anyone would experience such days in Iceland).

Bottle at Brickskeller. Boring beer, with that said it’s about as good as a regular pale lager can hope to be.

Bottle. Pale yellow colour with a short white bubbly head. Bit sweet and grainy aroma. Flavour is grainy, sweet and bit hoppy. Nothing special about this brew.

I actually had this twice (why?, poured it out both times) from a 16.9oz can, brought back by a co-worker of mine. Thanks for the gesture, hehe. Aroma, flavor, palate: all stale crap, adjunct ridden, DMS, blech. Appearance: metallic yellow urine, gross. Whatever.

RFD - Washington DC - 11.2 oz bottle. Typical northern European light lager. Very pale golden pour with a pithy white head. Skunky aroma with hints of alcohol. Corny flavor with hints of mown grass and a touch of honey sweetness. Thinnish mouthfeel. Not worth th3 $475 I paid for it - but I added another country!

Bottle drank at the Brickskeller during RBSG 06 DC Weekend Pellucid yellow, clear, light head and lacing. Nose of corn, stale hop, metal. Boring. The flavor is like fresh horse droppings and hay, but then add water. The finish is stale. eh. Iceland.

Bottle. Very pale gold in colour. This was extremely bland, quite clean and watery, with pretty much zero flavour to speak of. Faintly sweet pale malt and a barely recognisable grassy hop finish. Bland.

Bottle... co-rated by Duff... Clear straw-colored lager with a small, creamy, white head. Grassy, clover honey nose. Decently balanced flavor, but tilts a bit on the sweet side. Mostly bland, but we spotted some hay, clover honey and spicy hop notes. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Mercifully short, crisp, mostly clean finish.

Bottle, Brickskeller. Pale, no visible bubbles or head, yellow in color. Syrupy cheap adjunct flavor, strong too. Grains and spoiled lemons everywhere. Terrible smelling, full of corn and hay and body odor. Nasty.

Poured a very pale, somewhat of a white tinted pale lager color with a thin initial head that just sat there and didn’t shrink. The lacing was outstanding, as good as it gets within style! All downhill from there. Bottle says Icelandic water was used in brewing this, but I think they used too much, being too proud of their water, cuz there was lots of water in the taste. There was some level of corn and adjuncts, but the hopping levels and water levels both seemed to keep this from being your usual terrible and sweet (sometimes cloying) pale lager flavor. Too watered down, skunky in the initial aroma. Highly carbonated and acidic mouthfeel. Not so good, but stamp me passport, Iceland! Aye!
