My first Icelandic beer, brought home from the holidays by a dear colleague. :-) Unfortunately, it’s a very, very bad one; smelling of canned, overcooked veggies and pale malts. Taste follows suit, with the same horrid flavors so often found in "lite" beers; veggies, cardboard, canned meat and dusty, bitter hops. Far too bitter for its light body, Viking Lite really goes overboard. You may have to be a viking to like this, but I seriously doubt they would...

Pours clear pale yellow with a white head that very little lacing. Aroma is grains, malt, and subdued hops. Flavour is much like the aroma.

Ser ut som en Corona och smakar som en Corona. Inget vidare alls vill säga. Metallsmak och dofter av järn dominerar. Flaska 33 cl vid Blå Lagunen, Island.

Can in hotel room, Reykjavik. This really an idiotic idea to rate every Icelandic macro pale lager but fuck it, this sounds really tasty! Clear yellow appearance with a white head. Sickly sweet pale malty, cooked corn, bullshit aroma. Sweet, mild celery/corn/veggie, a little skunky flavor. Absolutely horrible. Best before April 2013, so I guess I got it at its peak, ha. I need a Bud Light Platinum to wash out my mouth after this winner.

0,5 l can kindly shared by my beer pal and co-homebrewer Lars Helge. Clear pale golden with a white, 1" frothy head. Aroma of band aid, rice and dung. Bland, watery and light bodied with light sweetness and bitterness.

Can brought back from Iceland. Pours a 1", fizzy head with a bit of fluff. Dissipates to a bubbly ring. Pale, clear, straw yellow body. Pils malt aroma with a pinch of noble hop spice and some corn. Flavor is seltzery/minerally with sweet malt and light, Saaz-ish hops. Corn is more prominent. Palate is light with a crisp, dry body. Moderate bitterness balances the sweetness. Prickly, aggressive carbonation. Slightly metallic note. Fairly clean finish. Overall not a super offensive light beer, but no need to come back to it.

Man, this is your typical big brew lager though I swear this fella tastes like a sparkling water.

Very pale beer. A hint of malt, some bitter hops, but this is water, water, water. They have tried to remove most of the flavour along wth the calories, and they’ve succeeded.
