Víking Strong lager has an alcohol content of 7%, making it the strongest beer in the Víking range. It has a pale golden colour with little bitterness and the slightly sweet savour of malt. Víking Sterkur is popular because of its pleasantly mild character which is retained despite its high alcohol content.

Pours a beautiful pale gold with lots of effervescence and a pure white head mostly lasting. Nose is of hops and cream. Nice and creamy on the palate, the taste is of a pilsner, clean and crisp, with a certain creaminess and softness, more like a farmhouse ale. This beer can be enjoyed with smoked salmon on crackers.

Can @ hotel room, Reykjavik. I really didn’t mean to purchase a malt liquor in Iceland, let alone two, but I might as well tick it. Aroma is pretty mild, straw, grain, and really not offensive. Thick malty, super sweet, a bit lemon tangy, somewhat boozy flavor. Not incredibly horrible but I fucking hate malt liquors.

0,5 l can kindly shared by my beer pal and co-homebrewer Lars Helge. Clear and sparkling pale golden with a white, fluffy one inch head leaving a fair lacing. Sugary, light malty aroma. Sweet, bitter and alcoholic with cardboard dominant. Long bitter finish. Medium body. Syrupy. Unpleasant.

Can brought back from Iceland. Pours a pale, straw yellow body with a moderate, 1/2" head. Good lacing. Aroma is of dusty hops with a touch of grainy malt and possibly some corn. Husky, astringent character rears its head in the flavor along with a definite alcohol presence that meanders into fusel. Reminiscent of cough syrup with regard to the alcohol. Fairly light body is relatively sweet. Light hop bitterness comes through. Alcohol slickness plays a role, moreso than I would expect. Overall bad and pretty gross.

Can, 7.0%. Very grainy aroma. Clear very pale yellow colour. Very small white head. The flavour is better than the aroma, nicely caramelly, a bit sweet. Not so sugary, but with a sort of spicy sweetness.
