Víking Strong lager has an alcohol content of 7%, making it the strongest beer in the Víking range. It has a pale golden colour with little bitterness and the slightly sweet savour of malt. Víking Sterkur is popular because of its pleasantly mild character which is retained despite its high alcohol content.

Can brought back from Iceland. Pours a pale, straw yellow body with a moderate, 1/2" head. Good lacing. Aroma is of dusty hops with a touch of grainy malt and possibly some corn. Husky, astringent character rears its head in the flavor along with a definite alcohol presence that meanders into fusel. Reminiscent of cough syrup with regard to the alcohol. Fairly light body is relatively sweet. Light hop bitterness comes through. Alcohol slickness plays a role, moreso than I would expect. Overall bad and pretty gross.

Can, 7.0%. Very grainy aroma. Clear very pale yellow colour. Very small white head. The flavour is better than the aroma, nicely caramelly, a bit sweet. Not so sugary, but with a sort of spicy sweetness.

Very lively light yellow lager. The nose is pure maltiness, grassy cereals are predominant. Strong with hints of richness though it remains very light and sparkly. Much of the malt from the nose with the tiniest hint of hop dryness at the finish.

Bought a large can in Iceland and poured into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a light clear gold color with few bubbles and a small white head that was quickly gone and had little cling too. The beer had a straw and grainy hops aroma with maybe a touch of barley, not too strong or exciting. Its taste was fairly bitter and grainy, with a touch of sour mash characteristic too. It was a thin, lowly carbonated beer, mostly dry, and did not have a compelling mouthfeel. It did have a sour alcohol taste at the finish.

Can from kuphish, this rating in relation to the just-had Gylltur. Even paler than the last, but otherwise the same appearance. Nose is slightly heavier, slightly hoppier (nobles). Taste is picking up grass and not as grainy, still touched by alcohol, and here it’s a bit off-putting. Not getting into medicinal territory, but it’s still somewhat dirty.
