Bottle from an Eastern European store in Bury St Edmunds. Poured a cloudy maroon brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma of rye bread, brown sugar, and malt. Very sweet. Medium body, sticky sweet texture, soft carbonation. Not a fan.

Klar, mörkt brun-röd, brunt skum. Doft: Mörk sirap, mörkt grovt rågbröd. Smak: Som doft + vörtbröds kryddor. Inte illa om man gillar rågbröd, vilket jag gör.

500ml bottle as ’Vilniaus Bačkorių Gaivusis Giros Gerimas’ BB July 2015. Hazy dark red, still, small tan head, light lacing. Aroma is strong rye bread, molasses, bovril. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is sweet rye bread, very sweet, cola. Simple flavour. Sticky and tooth coating - quite an offensive palate. Alright overall.

Bottle. Brown, clear with small head. Aroma: Caramel, bread, some coffiee. Sweet. Taste: Very sweet, sour aftertaste. Low carbonation, nice refreshing. Sweetness decreases drinkability. Pretty good for kwas.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown color. Small size, brown head, disappears. Very bready, roast, sweet notes in aroma. Sweet, very bready, dirty cloth, caramel in taste. Long lasting bread in aftertaste. Sweet body.

rauchbier (3808) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAY 21, 2012
Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Hazy red brown, no head and minimal but noticable fine condition. Very pronounced rye bread aromas in the nose, some gentle toffee sweetness. Very sweet in the mouth initially with the breadiness dominant although the sweetness isnt at all cloying and the low condition does give it a little balance. Finish is surprisingly dry and grainy with retronasal rye bread dominant and a little fruitiness as it warms. Quite pleasant and refreshing.

Schroppfy (2360) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - MAY 2, 2011
Dunkle, candyish, horribly sweet. Very bready, but not enough rye (detectable). The aroma has some rotting vegetable that at least is natural, bready, sprouty and interesting, the flavor is so unrelentingly horrible candied and watery at the same time as to be...undrinkable in the flavor department. I sampled about 2-3 oz as best I could. Flat and lifeless. Lots of sediment and the dregs pour helped a little. Dull, dark brown, cloudy, still.

Thanks phil! How did you manage to write the letters so well? Hard to find :) Aroma of fresh rye and dark syrup. Dark brown, with a small white head. Sweet, bready taste with a long finish.

FatPhil (14087) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 1, 2009
500ml bottle (Alaus Namai, Vilnius)
Treacle and rye bread aroma. Simple light rye-bread and raisin taste. Thin body, a bit watery. Fizzy palate, a bit like a soft drink artificial kvass. However, there was sediment in the bottle, so this is a traditional gira.
