Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Hazy red brown, no head and minimal but noticable fine condition. Very pronounced rye bread aromas in the nose, some gentle toffee sweetness. Very sweet in the mouth initially with the breadiness dominant although the sweetness isnt at all cloying and the low condition does give it a little balance. Finish is surprisingly dry and grainy with retronasal rye bread dominant and a little fruitiness as it warms. Quite pleasant and refreshing.

Dunkle, candyish, horribly sweet. Very bready, but not enough rye (detectable). The aroma has some rotting vegetable that at least is natural, bready, sprouty and interesting, the flavor is so unrelentingly horrible candied and watery at the same time as to be...undrinkable in the flavor department. I sampled about 2-3 oz as best I could. Flat and lifeless. Lots of sediment and the dregs pour helped a little. Dull, dark brown, cloudy, still.

Thanks phil! How did you manage to write the letters so well? Hard to find :) Aroma of fresh rye and dark syrup. Dark brown, with a small white head. Sweet, bready taste with a long finish.

Treacle and rye bread aroma. Simple light rye-bread and raisin taste. Thin body, a bit watery. Fizzy palate, a bit like a soft drink artificial kvass. However, there was sediment in the bottle, so this is a traditional gira.
