The head is good, the body brown. it smells a bit sweet, malty, darkmalty. The taste is maltaromatic, bit watery, mild, darkmalty. OK! 11/12/10/10/11/10

Mörkt brun mot rött, med smutsvitt skum. Torkad frukt, russin (som förvisso är just en torkad frukt), jordgubbsmarmelad samt den i litauiska öl allestädes närvarande smörkolan. Desamma återkommer i smaken. Kolsyrig munkänsla. Mer än godkänd.

0,33 L bottle. Dark brown color. Aroma of raisins and caramel. Sweet malty tones in flavor, some light coffee tones. Easy to drink.

Rewelacyjne ciemne i niepasteryzowane piwo z sąsiedniej Litwy. Ciemna i karmelowa barwa, trochę słodyczy umila degustację. A piękna lakierowana litrowa butelka dodaje dodatkowego uroku. Piwo jest dość ciężkie w smaku i za dóżo go się od razu nie da wypić. Polecam wszystkim to piwo w eleganckiej, krachlowej butelce.

In short: A fruity (raisins & friends) and toasted burgundy beer. Decent.
How: Tap at the brewery beer bar (simply called Vilniaus Alus) downtown Vilnius, also tap at Šnekutis Užupis, Vilnius, Lithuania. This rating for the pint at Vilniaus Alus because my rating is more descriptive
The look: Clear burgundy body topped by a small long-lasting beige head
In long: Nose has husky grains, toastiness and pleasant fruity esters. Taste is quite fruity with juicy raisins, prunes and even ripe bananas. Also usual caramel and toasted grains. Medium sweetness sensation. A bit yeasty. Active carbonation. My brief notes describe a slightly different beer when I had it at Šnekutis Užupis, less juicy and with a smoother carbonation. But I found the conditioning of smaller Lithuanian breweries to be very variable. Overall both pints were decent brews but nothing remarkable. And now that I’m back home I realize that Lithuania has everything, absolutely everything I love about a country. Very cheap beer.

My Bottom Line:
This amazingly raisin-y Lithuanian Tamsus is also emboldened by distinct toasted malts and caramelized sugars.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy brown.
-Like some other Tamsus brews, this can lack hop bite in the finish to diversify the loud malt flavors.
-The soft fullness of the body makes this feel richer than the abv suggests.
-This is another very good brew from Vilniaus Alus.

On tap at Šnekutis Užupis.
