Off the tap into a pint glass at Vino’s. Dark brown to almost black color with a thin head. Very light aroma of roasted malt. A solid roasted malt flavor with a sweeter malt ending that has a final hop bite to it. Soft and creamy texture. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very drinkable, maybe too much. A little more smell to it would be nice. The mouthfeel was really the best part. I think that is due to the oatmeal softening up the body, but the flavor could have some more to it.

Location: Draft at Vino’s, 4/17/12

Aroma: The nose is somewhat roasty, some nutty notes, toast, and sweet malts
Appearance: It pours a brown-black color with a foam of tan head and medium lace
Flavor: The flavor is mid sweet, it is both malty and lightly roasty, with very little bitterness
Palate: The body of this one is light-medium, with a soft carbonation and a smooth drinkability
Overall Impression: It thought this one was a solid stout, rather sweet stout. It has some pretty good components to it, and it drinks really nicely. It is, however, also a touch thin. Still though, it is a solid, drinkable beer.

enjoyed the weekend of RBWG 2011thanks to John for bringing the Vino’s to RBWG! Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is oat and roast. Flavor is the same with thin smoke and a super creamy body. A tad thin.

Bottle at RBWG. Pours a almost pure black color with a medium white head. A nose of caramel, toasted malts, some sweet chocolates. A earthy dry cocoa flavor, some light sweet chocolate, a medium body. Nice.

Characteristic aroma and flavor of roasted malt, but the body was too thin for my liking. There are many of their brews that I’d rather have. The lack of body was the main problem that I noticed. The rest was acceptable.
