Commercial Description:
German style golden ale that orginates in the Cologne region. This style of the beer is brewed with around 12% wheat malt, the rest of the grist being German Pilsner malt. Restrained hop bitterness can be discerned by the use of German noble hops such as Hallertau, Hersbrucker or Tettnag varietals. This style of beer is protected by the "Kolsch Konvention" pact signed in 1986 by 24 breweries in and around Cologne that is recognized by the German government and allows these breweries exclusive rights to the word Kolsch to describe their beer.

GABF 2009. Pours a light golden, clear, nice carb and white head. Aroma is lightly toasted bread, doughy pils malt, cracker and wheat dough with herbal and grassy hops. Flavor is dusty cracker malts, with bread and toast, light mineral, yet soft, clean and crisp in the finish- light hop bitterness- nice.

Pours a clear light gold body with some light white lacing. Slightly dry and bready malt with a little bit of hay on the nose. The flavor is pretty crisp, dry, and bready with a very lightly biter dry finish. Refreshing and crisp, pretty well done.

On tap Sep. 2008: Pours a bright pale golden with a creamywell-lacing white head. Aroma of mild grainy malts and a touch of lager yeast and crisp noble hops. Body starts with decent fullness and effervescent carbonation with a faint pale malty sweetness well balanced with fresh slightly piny noble bittering hops. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

On tap at V50. Nice golden color with a pale white head. Nose is a bit sweet and grainy. High levels of carbonation. Nicely crisp with a grassy, clean flavor that is briefly there then gone. Not overly bitter or malty or anything else for that matter. A beer that seems best for a hot summer day as a thirst quencher.
