On tap, at brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy and thick looking gold body with a small tight bubbled white head. Strong bready and pils malt nose with a touch of yeast, raw leafy hops and alcohol. The flavor is all malt with a little bit of yeast influence. Almost reminds you of Duvel, but this is a little sweeter. Thick and slightly sticky on the palate with light carbonation. Not quite there with the Duvel, but it was pretty decent.

Tap. Pours clear and sparkling gold with an average, creamy cream colored head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (straw, meal, biscuit), average hops (floral, citrus), and heavy esters (apple/pear, banana) with notes of alcohol and coriander. Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, straw, meal, biscuit), average hops (floral, citrus), and heavy esters (apple/pear, banana) with notes of coriander. Full body, high warmth, medium carbonation, low creaminess with a sweet texture and dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a glowing deep golden with a creamy white head. Aroma is spicy and fruity, a touch of booziness. Yeasty with plenty of candi sugar sweetness, some lighter citric fruits. Flavor starts with a sweet sugary fruit, pear and a touch citric. Picks up some nice sharp and zesty pepper spiciness, getting a bit more boozy as it goes alone. Aggressive finish, sharp booze and prickly spice with some bitterness. Medium to medium full body and a sharper prickly carbonation. Pretty good beer, aggressive and complex but still drinkable, though a touch boozy.

Great Ale!! Nice yellowish white color. Lacing stays in glass throughout. Fruity esters with a flavoring similar to Piraat, but slightly stronger in the finish. Brewmaster does a nice job with this one. This one is very close to their Angelís Share, but slightly stronger in the finish and body.

(Sample Date: 3/14/2009 Source:Other) Growler from the Brewpub. Aroma similar to a chardonnay, grainy, with some spicy hop and yeast notes. Almost clear with a small white head and some lacing on the glass. Slightly buttery, spicy with candy sugar notes. Finish is sweet with oak and wine hints.

On tap 4/11/09: Pours a transparent golden with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet pale biscuity pilsener malt and a touch of caramel with lots of Saaz hops. Starts with good fullness and sweet pale malty notes with a good noble bitter hop character and light fruity complexity before a crisp bittersweet finish. A nice Belgian strong ale.

Growler courtesy of Maltdawg for Richmond Gathering. Nice to be able to try something from these guys. Clear golden, decent head. Aroma was rather shockingly of Chardonnay grapes, with some honey, grape, and slight oak notes. Sweet in the mouth, flavor matched, and just a touch of butter that somehow didnít seem out of place. Very odd beer, but nice.

Draft. Pours a hazy gold with a small white head. Strong orange notes in the nose, with hints of yeast, spice, and malt sweetness. Medium carbonation with a rich, sticky mouthfeel. A bit on the sweet side with notes of honey, citrus fruit, and spice. The alcohol is well hidden in this brew. The finish is sweet and lasting. Overall not a bad Belgian but I would prefer less sweetness.
