COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Dedication" is an homage to the Trappist brewing monks of Belgium and their distinctive and wonderful beers. Closest in style to a "dubbel" (but bigger!), our abbey style ale is ruby red, unfiltered, and hugely flavorful. The aroma suggests plum, pear, raisin, figs, with a subtle refined spiciness (perhaps black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, a trace of nutmeg).. all this comes from the unique Trappist yeast used in fermentation. The taste is a continuation of the experience, with rich malty character and alcohol heat vying for attention amidst more fruit and spice complexity. This amazing beer is truly meant to be savored. Brewed with hops from Brewmaster Scottís own hop garden!

Draft at the source. Hazy deep amber color. Aroma of brownies. Taste is sourdough brownies.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a uncarbonated transparent red brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The off-tasting mildly vinous mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The odd tasting flavor contained notes of raisin and ginger. Not one that I would likely buy again.

Sample at the brewpub. Slightly hazy brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, dark fruit and caramel. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, plums and earthy yeast. The finish is fruity with a spicy yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

3oz on tap at the brewpub. Mostly hazy dark red, slight brown color to it. Nice thin khaki head, decent bits of lace. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Some caramel malt, bigger dark fruit, light spiciness to the aroma. Some belgian yeast and candy sugar. Moderate spicy taste, moderate sweet, moderate bitter, light bit of heat. Some raw grain in the finish. Solid american dubbel.

Tap at the brewery - medium amber with a light haze - this one has some potential, but is far too sweet and alcoholic - there are some nice notes of plum and toffee, along with some spicy phenolics, but a sugary sweetness washes these out and the alcohol heat in the finish is a bit much.

Dark amber pour - really nice nose on this one, permeating the table (maybe Iím just extra thirsty). Served in a pretty big chalice glass. A bit disappointed, they have the Apple Brandy version listed on their menu but donít expect to tap it until the weekend - WTF? This may taint my rating. Lots of dark fruit in the aroma and the taste. Just a hint of booze in the finish. Nice spice character from the Belgian yeast as well. Nice.

Had it at on tap Vintage Brewery in Madison Wi. Poured a clear brown hue, with a light head. Heavy Belgian malt aroma and the ginge and anise really pop out with this beer.

Tap at Vintage. Amber-brown body, steady beige head. Warm fruit tinged Belgian yeast notes, raisin, toffee. Has a nice doughy, soft carbonation, overall mouthfeel is great. A pretty solid effort, true to style. Vanilla amber malt fruit tones, but really well balanced and grounded in the smooth, clean base malts. Well done, great Stateside Dubbel.
