3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2013
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Madison, WI). Pours a deeper ruby brown hue, gentle orange copper bottom and edges, well hazed darker body. A cakey tannish khaki head atop stays as a firm layer, laces well. Aromas are a bit toasty and biscuity, mellow darker biscuit and gentle carmelized malts. Some mellow spice, earthy hop dryness is mellow. A kiss of cocoa, carmelization. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a touch of gentle body offers some toasty malts, carmelization, more subtle darker mellow sweet and grainy malts. A bit of toast and faint chocolate malt gives some life in the middle. Bready, biscuity, mellow earthy dry hopping. The backend is a bit more dry, toasty and dry grainy malts, mellow earthy hopping. It’s simple but quite drinkable. The darker malt slant gives it a bit of character for a beer that is so small. Mellow, smooth, light earthy brown malt influence never gets out of hand or over "Brown Malt"-y. Gentle yet drinkable, almost a faint maple element in there at times. Solid beer.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 beerbaaron (380) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Dark brownish. Small wispy beige head. English malt and hops. Lasting finish. some bitterness and dryness. Sort of ’leathery’ in a way.

On tap at Vintage Brewpub. Unfiltered mahogany with a creamy brown crown. Armoa of malt, coffee, pale malt and noble hops. Taste is pale, mild and noble with a hint of chocolate. A bit dusty with a metallic finish.

Draft at Vintage. It’s an ok beer. Sweet and fruity. Not exactly my favorite mild out there. Meh.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 madvike (2090) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 12, 2013
On tap at the Vintage - Pours hazy brown with a foamy light tan head. Nose is lightly nutty and bready with a bit of herbal hopping. Taste is the same, with real bold bready malt. A touch of hops, and just a touch of chocolate. A bit watery, but I guess at 3.8% that’s to be expected. Smooth and well-carbonated...feels good in the mouth.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 cbfobes (1675) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Finally, my 73rd and final style rate! Might as well be a local brew! On tap at Vintage 12/29, pours a clear dark brownish red with a creamy tan head an lacing through the glass, aroma is of sweet malt with a little bit of fruit as well, the flavor has some chocolate on the front end with a little bit of the hops in the finish, doesn’t really blow me away by any means but it’s drinkable,
