COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing Lapinette, a Norman-style cidre brut, aged in French oak barrels. Reminiscent of the old days in France, before the great wars, when wine makers of the south shared their used barrels with their northern cousins, the resulting ciders were a little bit rough, unfiltered with a balance of flavors from the fruit, the farm and the barrel. Virtue has recreated this traditional cider by sourcing tart fruit, patiently aging for months in wine barrels, and serving as is, without fine filtration. Lapinette is a window into our past, a very tasty time indeed.

Draft. Pours a light hazy pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is clean and light sour apple, very woody and earthy. Flavor has extremely dry, a bit white wine like without the sweetness, very woody and earthy again, light in character and in mouthfeel. Interesting cider, you can really taste the dryness from the wood.

Pour on tap at the Republic SC, clear straw yellow pour with no head, aroma brought notes of nice oak, earth, funk into a bit of lemon, tart apple, slight yeasty, touch of a weird fruity notes as well. Taste was a mix of oak, earth, funk into some dusty basement, some tart apple, yeasty notes, finishing tart, funky.

Bottle - Pours pale yellow with a ring of white bubbles. Nose is dry apple, a little oak, and a bit of dry, leathery Brett. Taste is the same--lots of dry apple, oak, and Brett. Chardonnay finish. Thin and light carbonation. Pretty decent.
