Ledbury is an old market town in Herefordshire, England – full of historic inns and pubs, and a beautiful, half-timber Market House dating back to 1617. It sits between the rivers Wye and Severn, surrounded by orchards growing cider apples. My first visit to Ledbury was as a brewer, to buy English hops in the autumn of 2007. I returned in 2011, a newly minted Cider-maker, to meet Tom Oliver. Tom makes traditional cider and perry in Ocle Pynchard, Herefordshire, to my palate among the very best.

The Ledbury Cider is an English-style medium cider – not too dry, not too sweet. A blend of old world bittersweet apples and new world heirloom varieties are fermented with native yeast, adding a bit of farminess to the ripe apple nose.

[6268-20140419] Tap. Harsh apple skins aroma. Clear, pale yellow body with no lasting head. Apple woody fruit flavour. Medium body. I prefer sweeter but this is OK. (6/3/6/3/12) 3.0

750ml bottle, thanks to Jay A. for sharing. Clear golden, slight orange color. Thin ring of white head. Loose dots of lace. Apple aroma, kind of oaky, mild white wine flavors. Moderate sweet taste, light tartness to it. Lightly slick texture, kind of a nice, dry finish. Pretty nice moderately dry english cider.

Sample at Mongoose vs Cobra. Bright golden color with a minimal white head and spotty lacing. Apples and sweet spices in the nose. Medium body with an apple cider character and notes of cinnamon and honey. The finish is fruity with a mildly tart apple aftertaste. Decent overall.

750 bottle bought at Nobi and enjoyed at home after my Zwanze weekend .. . tawny clear .. expected foam .. a medium cider for sure, but on the drier side .. . red apple skin, light wood, a touch of tannin, and hints of granny slut apples .. . pretty nice cider . .. . I usually do not drink in public anymore due to the amount of crazy shit I stare at and my non ability to control my facial expressions.

Bottle at home. Pours brilliantly clear gold with a quickly disapating fizzy white head, no retention. Aroma is apples, honey and light cinnamon notes. Flavor is tart dry apples, light earthy notes and a dry finish. Light body and carbonation.

Very pale white color. Aroma reminiscent of white wine which only arouses foul memories since wine fermented from unripe grapes leave the most foul smell on the breath. The oakiness helps offset this foulness. Only faint bubbles remain after the pour. The flavor is light past the finish, which has an oaky stab, but its not enough.
