2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A dark amberclear body with a minimal head. Nose is mild with some caramelly malty notes. Taste is quite sweet with a strange herbal minty note to it, the finish is mildy dry. Carbonation is soft and the palate is fairly rich but not annoyingly thick. The taste is quite unusual, a little like underberg or something and the nose is way too mild.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from Tallinn. Dark amber colour, medium frothy off-white mostly lasting head, fair lacing. Heavily malty aroma of nuts, caramel and cassis with moderate resiny hops. Taste is initially moderately sweet with a hint of bitterness turning into a bittersweet finish with a slightly acetic feel. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very pleasant aroma, taste was a bit unbalanced towards sweetness, certainly not a vienna lager, more like some kind of a cross between English and Belgian ale.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500 ml bottle from Estonia. Pours dark reddish amber with a beige head. Aroma of sweetish caramel. Caramel and sweet bread in the flavour with a slight hoppy bitterness. Slightly unpleasant finish. Not to be confused with the original Danish beer, compared to which this a flop.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the archives and re-rated: it is for sure not Vienna or amber lager. Stands closer to English strong ale. Faint caramel aroma, hop aroma typical to bitters. Medium sweet with bitter medium bitter aftertaste. Plenty of roasted malt and caramel. Medium body and carbonation. Rather oily texture
If you gonna compare it to Thornbridge Equinox or Fuller’s 1845 you will be disappointed. But this one costs 1/2 price, and is, actually, enjoyable beer.
My advice: get the whole series of GB, serve them at the right temperature and right glass, and you will not be disappointed.
