COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Originally sold by Tartu as A. Le Coq Premium Extra. The beer was bought by Brand Independence Ltd in 2006 and renamed Viru. It is contract brewed by Tartu for Brand Independence Ltd.
Ingredients: Water (from one of Europe’s deepest wells); Malted Barley (Lithuanian); Sugar; Saaz Hops; Yeast.
‘Viru’ (pronounced ‘veer-roo’) is becoming a well known Baltic states’ beer export. Brewed in the university town of Tartu, Viru is packaged in a octahedral bottle designed over 100 years ago, and thought to be based on the churches and towers of old Tallinn, capital of Estonia.

10.1 oz bottle. Poured a clear pale yellow color with a razor thin white top. Taste of sweet pale malt, bready and barley. Low carbonation, thin watery body. Overall, I’m really digging the sweetness of this pale lager. Definitely my go to beer from Estonia (so far)

Poured from 300ml bottle into pilsner glass. Appearance: pours a frothy 1" white head that drops quickly with mild lacing left behind. Color is clear pale straw with plenty of streaming carbonation. Aroma: pleasant combination of lightly toasted barley and grassy hops. Mouthfeel: light, crisp, refreshing with a fairly dry finish. Flavor: echoes the aroma: mild mixture of lightly toasted barley and grassy hops with some slight vanilla notes as well. Overall: easy drinking and tasty, what’s not to like?

Bue en bouteille de 30cl. Achetée pour la design de la bouteille, à vrai dire c'est sa plus grande qualité. Elle sent la Kro, elle goûte la Kro. Pas d'effervescence, malt final. Pas bon.

Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that left almost no lacing around the glass and dissipated rather quickly. The aroma is rather faint but i do pick up sweetness, possibly sugar. I also pick up some breadiness on the nose as well. For the taste, I pick up the same notes as I did in the aroma. The beer is rather light and worth a try.

Read the story in description. All si there. Original bottle was way thinner and higher. Beer is just a pale lager. This was one of the first screw-top bottles in Estonia btw.

Clear golden, frothy white head. Malty, light cereal aroma and flavour. Bittersweet, smooth carb. Harmless.
