Originally sold by Tartu as A. Le Coq Premium Extra. The beer was bought by Brand Independence Ltd in 2006 and renamed Viru. It is contract brewed by Tartu for Brand Independence Ltd.
Ingredients: Water (from one of Europe’s deepest wells); Malted Barley (Lithuanian); Sugar; Saaz Hops; Yeast.
‘Viru’ (pronounced ‘veer-roo’) is becoming a well known Baltic states’ beer export. Brewed in the university town of Tartu, Viru is packaged in a octahedral bottle designed over 100 years ago, and thought to be based on the churches and towers of old Tallinn, capital of Estonia.

Bue en bouteille de 30cl. Achetée pour la design de la bouteille, à vrai dire c'est sa plus grande qualité. Elle sent la Kro, elle goûte la Kro. Pas d'effervescence, malt final. Pas bon.

Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that left almost no lacing around the glass and dissipated rather quickly. The aroma is rather faint but i do pick up sweetness, possibly sugar. I also pick up some breadiness on the nose as well. For the taste, I pick up the same notes as I did in the aroma. The beer is rather light and worth a try.

Read the story in deScription. All si there. Original bottle was way thinner and higher. Beer is just a pale lager. This was one of the first screw-top bottles in Estonia btw.

Clear golden, frothy white head. Malty, light cereal aroma and flavour. Bittersweet, smooth carb. Harmless.

Getrunken auf der Bierbörse in Mainz. Das Design ist der Hammer, dass Bier dafür ein eher unterdurchschnittliches Lager.

THE BOTTLE IS AWESOME!!! Bought from Beers Of Europe Pale gold on the colour with half a finger head. Grassy and malty aroma. Tastes malty, with a touch of bitterness, light grassy and wheaty notes, quite sweet too. Not great though

Bottle from Ship in a Bottle. Smell is special, some oil and dough, not very malty. Pours golden with a medium white head. Thin taste with some malts and pilsener flavor. Palate is a bit oily and sticky. Overall another boring lager. To be honest, I just purchased the beer for the sake of the bottle design.
