COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Originally sold by Tartu as A. Le Coq Premium Extra. The beer was bought by Brand Independence Ltd in 2006 and renamed Viru. It is contract brewed by Tartu for Brand Independence Ltd.
Ingredients: Water (from one of Europe’s deepest wells); Malted Barley (Lithuanian); Sugar; Saaz Hops; Yeast.
‘Viru’ (pronounced ‘veer-roo’) is becoming a well known Baltic states’ beer export. Brewed in the university town of Tartu, Viru is packaged in a octahedral bottle designed over 100 years ago, and thought to be based on the churches and towers of old Tallinn, capital of Estonia.

Well... It's not even on the top 25 beers of Estonia ...offers very little but a great ice breaker or talking point cuz the bottle is very unique as other reviewers point out... Buy it for the bottle and... That's it... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden color, thin white head. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Aroma is malty, sugary, with a hint of banana. Medium sweet taste, no bitterness. OK.

Interesting bottle from backlog notes. Pours a clear light golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet grainy malt, corn, grass, general pale lager crap, I would not revisit, I probably should have avoided it.

Points for the bottle....but alas, we’re raing the beer. Not great, not offensive, but just nothing happening here. Very subtle hops, slight sweetness which dies away fairly quickly.

330ml bottle poured in a chalice. After a Coors, this one. Such a bad night... A: I would give 2.5 to the bottle. Nice format. The beer itself is not impressive. Pale yellow, very clear. Pours a medium aired white head which dissipates quiclky leaving very few lacings S: Smells grains, basically. A bit of yeasts and a little bit hops T: Tasteless. Adjunct grains, basically. Light bitterness M: Very light body. Watery. Fizzy carbonation D: Well, it’s refreshing because it’s very watery but it does not worth the price paid in Switzerland since you can have a Budvar of Urquell by the same price in the same supermarket [ BA Review @ 10/21/2010 ]

Kita (1166) - Koper, SLOVENIA - OCT 13, 2014
Bottle, 0.30l. Clear pale golden color with medium frothy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma is grassy, grainy, vegetably and papery. Taste starts with moderate sweet corn malt and honey, follows by grassy and grainy sourness, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is light bitter. Light body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Bottle is certainly its only strength...

Cimbasso (194) - - AUG 29, 2014
A very pale yellow with a short-lived white head. Aroma of grains and malt. Sweet, honeyed taste which is quite mouth-filling. Hop taste is rather weak without much bitterness to offset the slightly cloying sweetness. Bread-like after-taste. Not bad, but needs a little more hop flavour. Bottle is very individual and characterful.

Bottle from Tesco. Pale, yellow coloured with a fleeting frothy white head. Aroma is sweet grains. Flavour is sweet cereal, and some honey.
