Bottle. Nice lacings left as the creamy off-white head sinks with the constantly lower level of unlcear, dark amber beer. Prunes, dark sugar, some grassy, peppery hops, and some pastry hints. Prunes, dark sugar, grassy hops and some spiced notes. Full body, very dry on the palate, with soft and pleasant carbonation. Bitter, yet malty sweet finish. A quite pleasant one, but it sort of lacks the balance one normally expect from Belgian beer. 130516

Een bier met een hele lekkere smaak, voor mij het beste bier in de Viven-serie.

33cl bottle at home. Dark brwon with a medium soapy slightly off-white head with low retention. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Medium sweetness with some herbal bitterness. Caramel, brown sugar, herbs, spices and yeast. A nice brown brew.

Belgian brown beer, so it has a malty body, with some notes of caramel and fruit, but this one is more hoppy than others of this style. Tasty beer.

Bottle @ Delerium Cafe in Rio de Janeiro. Murky brown with a thick cream coloured head. Sweet malty aroma and flavour, breadcrusts and pitted fruits. A decent double, maybe a little simple.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark ruby red colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Fruity, dark malty aroma, notes of dark berries, a touch of plum. Taste is dark malty, fruity, notes of dark berries and plum, dry overtones with a touch of fruit parings, a quite "neutral" touch of yeast, not really spicy, close to hay, very subtle hints of chocolate.

7.5% version... Slightly hazyreddish dark brown with small light brown head. Lots of caramel, toast, very ripe red plums, raisins, chocolate, and some herbal touch. Medium sweet with light roasted bitte rin the finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation, slightly watery herbal finish. Like the other Viven beers a decent example in the style.

Bottle at Park bench tasting. Almost clear red copper pour with white head, looks good. Aroma is toasty, caramel, brown sugar, grapes, red fruits, really stinky yet I can’t quite get my nose on it - flemish red without the sourness. Taste is malty, toasty, sweet, weird roasty sourness, brown sugar. Tastes and feels like a bad home brewed dubbel with a light infection.
